Report - Tillis to end re-election campaign and retire

It is being reported that Thom Tillis is now saying he is no longer running for re-election in 2026. This comes after President Trump announced he would meet with Tillis' primary challengers after Tillis betrayed Trump and American taxpayers by voting against the Big Beautiful Bill.

If this is true, it is a great day for North Carolina Republicans to finally be rid of this backstabbing buffoon who has been a massive embarrassment to our party for eleven years.

There have been rumblings of Michael Whatley, who had been handpicked by Tillis to be NCGOP chairman eyeing this seat. While not as bad as Tillis, Whatley is a former lobbyist who would likely be too cozy with the special interests, like Tillis has been. There may be others now enter this race from Congress.

This is the best political news I have heard in a long time. No more Thom Tillis! Tillis has been a major promoter of the wind and solar boondoggle for decades.

It is a great day for North Carolina conservatives that we are finally going to be rid of Tillis. All Republicans should rejoice because Tillis would have been poison to the whole GOP ticket in 2026 if he had been at the top of the ticket. He was unelectable himself and would have brought down others.

As Trump says, we need to stop putting up stupid people as candidates. We certainly do not need a lobbyist to pick up the same ball. Where can we find a good businessman like Trump?

I have held my nose and voted for Tillis many times in the past.

If there is a primary, and Tillis has not conceded his position, I will vote for the other guy.

Likewise in the past, I did not vote for Senator Burr during many election cycles. For some of you Tillis detractors out there, I sincerely believe Burr was worse than Tillis.
