American citizen Latinos on the border love Trump's illegal alien crackdown | Eastern NC Now

Starr County, Texas is a good example

ENCNow

One group that has moved nationally to Trump has been Hispanics.  Many polls show widespread Hispanic support for Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration. Nowhere is that more evident than in border counties.

In the 2024 election, President Trump carried a string of counties on the Mexican border that Republicans had not won in generations.  It was the Hispanic vote that propelled those Trump victories.

Starr County, Texas is a prime example.  It is 97% Hispanic, and was last won by a Republican in a presidential race over a century ago in 1892.  Trump carried it in 2024 mostly due to citizens outraged at Biden's open border policies.  Now Starr County residents are strongly behind Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration.

Hispanics who are American citizens often comprehend more than the rest of us the problems this flood of illegal aliens is causing. That is one of the big reasons that Hispanic voters are flocking to the GOP.
