Electric power rates have soared into the stratosphere in Democrat-run Maryland due to the Democrats obsession with "green energy", specifically expensive and unreliable wind and solar. Electric rates have become such a burden on consumers that Maryland's Democrat politicians are frantically trying to blame anyone but themselves. It is the Democrats who have spearheaded the closure of cheap and reliable coal power plants for ideological reasons.
Meanwhile, overdependence on fickle wind and solar almost crashed Maryland's increasingly fragile power grid this summer, and likely would have except for the lifeline thrown them by neighboring Pennsylvania supplying coal fired power to keep Maryland's grid up.
Here in North Carolina, we are headed in the same direction as Maryland, thanks to North Carolina's Green New Deal, HB951, which was rammed through the legislature by liberal RINO senate leader Phil Berger. Berger was pandering to liberal Gov. Roy Cooper and to NC's "woke" utility monopoly Duke Energy in passing that scam.
And warned lights are flashing for Virginia:

Remember Trump's story. You knew I was a snake when you picked me up. When will they ever learn.

NC has too many RINOs a/k/a "Undocumented Democrats" who pander to the solar and wind grifters. Berger is just one of them. Thom Tillis is another, as is Tillis' protege Michael Whatley. Whatley's lobbying / public relations firm pushed this solar boondoggle. These people are as big of enemies of the North Carolina consumer as the Democrats are.

It was a clear beautiful, royal blue sky day on Wall Street. The S & P futures were up markedly, awaiting a positive open, as I turn to get my first cup of coffee. I return to CNBC to get the morning business news, when I notice that the S & P futures are falling, and they're falling fast.
