State of Michigan was biggest funder of terrorist group al-Shabab thru welfare fraud
The Muslim terrorist group al-Shabaab, based in Somalia is notorious for its slaughter of civilians, not only within Somalia but also in neighbors like Kenya. Now it has emerged that its largest single funder is the state of Minnesota, through welfare checks delivered to Somali refugees engaged in welfare and Medicaid fraud who then send the money to al-Shabaab. Some estimates, including that of the Minnesota US Attorney put the missing welfare money at over a billion dollars.
President Trump has reacted to this welfare fraud funding of terrorism by revoking the protected status of Somalis living in the US. They will now be subject to deportation. Temporary Protected Status has allowed Somalis who arrive in the US to legally live and work here. There are now 86,000 of them in Minnesota. Trump also cited Somali crime gangs operating in the US.

If someone is officially admitted as a "refugee" they are entitled by law to welfare, which probably needs to be changed, but that too often does not stop them from claiming more than they are entitled to. If they were not officially admitted as refugees, then they were not entitled to welfare at all. Our taxpayer money should not be going to a terrorist group. President Trump is to be commended for eliminating the Temporary Protected Status for Somalis.
