The Spectator: The Climate Cult is Dead | Eastern NC Now

There have been quite a few post-mortems of the recent UN climate confab in Brazil called COP30 to the effect that the climate crusade was dead or dying.  Now the world's oldest news magazine, The Spectator, which has been published continuously since 1828 in the UK, has published its own obituary of the climate cult. "It's been a long lucrative run" they pointed out.

Several things that occurred around the COP30 were telling on the bankruptcy of the movement.  That started with the Brazilian government deciding to destroy 100,000 trees in the Amazon rain forest to build a road to a remote site for the function.  Near the end of the conference, the big lithium battery connected to the site's "green energy" power supply, did what such batteries are prone to do, and sponteously combusted, starting a fire that sent participants fleeing.

But recent political developments also signaled its end, beginning with the election of Donald Trump, who has long called the climate cult a fraud and immediately set to work extricating the US from it.  But developments in Europe were moving the same direction.  The Czech Republic elected a new prime minister who made opposition to the EU / UN climate agenda, which he denounced as "green madness" as one of the two main issues of his campaign. Parties opposed to the climate agenda also lead in the polls in many key European countries including France, Germany, the UK, Austria, and Poland.  The Swiss just voted down a proposed "climate tax" with 78% of the voters saying NO.  Even billionaire globalist Bill Gates, once a major mouthpiece and financier of the climate cult has admitted that the "climate doom" narrative is "wrong".

The CO2 climate theory began with a Swedish physicist coming up with the theory, which got almost no traction at the time, in the 1890s.  In the 1970s, the old discredited theory came to the attention of Margaret Thatcher's political operatives, who decided its would be useful to Thatcher's battles with radical coal miners unions and Arab oil sheiks and her push for nuclear energy.  To create new science around the old theory, they dumped a pile of taxpayer money into grants for new research into it, and hungry scientists did what hungry scientists do and produced reports aligned with the government's position.  UN officials then saw it as useful to their efforts to expand their power and influence and jumped in with both feet.
