new poll: Conservative challenger Ken Paxton opens lead over Sen. Cornyn (RINO-TX) | Eastern NC Now

Texas will vote in its US Senate primary on March 3, the same day as North Carolina.  That race features incumbent RINO Senator John Cornyn, a longtime ally of Mitch McConnell, and two challengers, staunch conservative Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Congressman  Wesley Hunt.  Cornyn has a long history of being weak on gun rights and on illegal immigration, and has been loudly booed at Texas state Republican conventions as a result.  Hunt is facing questions about a series of misstatements he has made in his campaign.  Hunt has also sought to run to Cornyn's right.

the latest poll from the University of Houston gives conservative Paxton a 7 point lead over Cornyn, with Hunt trailing.  The poll puts Paxton on 38%, Cornyn on 31% and Hunt on 17%. It also finds that Paxton would beat Cornyn in a runoff by 51% to 40%.

The Washington GOP establishment, including the National Republican Senatorial Committee, are working hard for Cornyn, but voters know him too well and want a change.

Some of the DC operatives involved in Cornyn's reelection campaign are also tied to RINO Lindsay Graham's reelection campaign in South Carolina and to RINO Michael Whatley's Senate campaign in North Carolina.
