Trump USDA finds over $10 Billion in Food Stamp (SNAP) fraud; California is worst | Eastern NC Now

many states will have to reimburse federal government

ENCNow

In its fraud investigations, the USDA of the Trump administration has been reviewing the Food Stamp (SNAP) program, which is administered by state governments and found over $10 Billion of "errors", both incompetence and  fraud where states gave Food Stamp / SNAP benefits to people who were not eligible for them.  Forty states were above the acceptable error rate, and in many the numbers were high enough that it will require states to reimburse the federal government.

Unsurprisingly, the worst offender was the Peoples Republic of California, which alone has $1.4 Billion in errors that they will have to repay.
