Arizona Supreme Court strikes down teachers union attack on school choice | Eastern NC Now

attempt to put referendum on ballot to end school choice

ENCNow

Teachers unions have failed again in their jihad against laws allowing parents to send their children to the schools of their choice.  This time it was in Arizona.

The teachers unions had tried to put a voter referendum on the ballot by petition to repeal Arizona's school choice law.   Even the Democrat controlled Arizona elections board determined that the unions had not gotten enough valid signatures to  put the issue on the ballot, but they sued in the courts claiming they had.  The Arizona Supreme Court just shot down their lawsuit, with the added twist that the court observed that the teachers unions had broken state law by hiring convicted felons to circulate their petitions.

This is how teachers unions waste their members dues.

The way forward for public schools is not to try to prevent parents from having school choice, but on the contrary to work to make public schools the ones parents want to send their children to by quality programs, curriculums that reflect parents values, and a safe educational environment.  Education competition should improve the product of all competitors.
