US DOJ cites 1969 law to require states receiving federal welfare to report illegal aliens to US | Eastern NC Now

now, they can receive federal welfare or be a sanctuary state, but not both

ENCNow

The United States Department of Justice is a new ruling has cited a 1969 welfare reform law as requiring any state or local government that administers funds of the TANF programs, including food stamps (SNAP) and SSI to report any illegal aliens in their jurisdiction that they are aware of.  This reporting requirement applies to all agencies of the government unit, not just the social services or welfare offices.  Significantly, that includes law enforcement agencies.

This means that if a state or county wants to be a "sanctuary" jurisdiction for illegal aliens or illegal alien criminals, then their citizens will not be getting the federal portion of food stamps, which is most of it, or SSI, which is all of it.  It is high time that this law is enforced to put an end to the harboring of illegal aliens by leftwing state and local governments.

This will also impact anchor babies, as getting welfare for them will now trigger a requirement to report the illegal alien parents.
