The village of Piddington in Oxfordshire has less than 400 residents, and adjoins the former Ministry of Defense ordinance deport Bicester, separated only by a wire fence. The national government has announced it intends to move 1,256 military aged male illegal alien "asylum seekers" to the Bicester facility and ultimately increase it to 3,500 illegal aliens.
Village residents are horrified, and took action. On September 15th, they held a local referendum on independence from the UK. It passed with 96% support, and local officials declared it the "Principality of Piddington". A sign was erected with the new name and official ID cards are being prepared.
While the UK government is extremely unlikely to recognize Piddington's independence, the action has brought a lot of media attention to their plight. Many residences and a children's playground in the village back up to that wire fence around the former depot. Crimes of various sorts, especially sex crimes by "asylum seekers" are rampant.
