Commented on Republican Purge

Mr. Fucito you seem to have spent a lot of effort explaining why things talked about in a recess dont go into a set of minutes. That all seems logical. What I dont see you explaining is why there was so much effort involved to avoid a meeting or reconvening one. Seems like that WOULD require minutes and nobody wanted the ouster of Unca Hood and the other two ladies to be on record much less that the police were called. If something isnt rotten enough to pass the smell test there usually isnt a need to try to keep it in the dark.

Giving the Army a grand 250th birthday celebration was the right move. It is important to remind the people of this nation (99% who have not served themselves since the creation of the all volunteer military) what it takes to give us the freedoms we enjoy. This is more important given all of the things happening with China, Iran, Russia, North Korea and more. Hegseth served low enough in the ranks not to be corrupted by the bureaucratic and political issues that have been detrimental to the military over the past 20-30 years. His leadership and vision to bring back the focus on lethality and the warrior ethos within our armed forces is vital and necessary. The sharp increase in recruitment since Trump was reelected is a clear demonstration that the people who serve and protect America, many who come from multiple generations of veterans, didnt agree with the Biden/Obama eras of DEI and mismanagement in DoD.

Wasn't our nation started because We the People opposed an actual King? Were we not opposed to taxation without representation? Did we not fight back when those who would oppress us came for our firearms, the AR-15s of the day, at Lexington and Concord? Don't our founding documents lay out a limited federal government so that the sovereign states could represent their people according to what they believed best? People shouldn't fear their government, governments should fear their people. They do work for us after all, not the other way around. Its sad to many people don't realize this or remember it. Its a travesty the bureaucrats and seemingly more often the judiciary don't understand this either.

Thanks are in order to Charles Hickman and Stacey Davis for standing up for and voting in favor of keeping Snowden open. They represented the Beaufort County people's voiced concerns and wishes. It's a shame the school board and county commissioners don't have more elected officials who do this.

What is surprising is that Terry Williams voted against closing Snowden. That should be worthy of applause as well. Maybe he had a change of heart and chose to listen to the people considering he traditionally votes lockstep with the superintendent's agenda. However, this is doubtful and was probably more a case of serving his own interests. He never once spoke out against or advocated for saving Snowden at any board meeting or public meeting concerning the issue. If he were so in favor of keeping the school open, why didn't he make more of an effort to advocate that principle during the lead up to this vote. Maybe he knew the vote to close was already decided before the meeting but wanted to appear to take a stand with a reelection year coming up. Maybe it's unpopular with Chocowinity voters to have Aurora students coming to Chocowinity schools. Either way, kudos to him for voting to save the school.

Ignorance is bliss. Willful ignorance is downright disgraceful and disgusting. These commissioners obviously are only concerned with what will benefit them. They are no friend to the Beaufort County citizen as has been repeatedly proven time after time. The new megaschool debacle, the willingness to close Snowden, the backroom deals, secrecy, and overall condescension to WE THE PEOPLE, disregard for true economic development, and an inability to conduct proper research, planning and administrating...the list goes on and continues to grow. Unfortunately, we are stuck with Booth, Langley and Walker for the next few years. We can get rid of Waters this next election cycle and he must go! If you disagree, VOTE FRANKIE WATERS FOR HIGHER TAXES, MORE INCOMPETENCE AND CORRUPTION. It's that simple folks.

Daniel Hudson is a RINO of the worst sort. He ran for school board on name recognition only and as a supposedly conservative Republican. He never came out at any time during the campaign on where he stood on any issues and never committed to any stance or position. He was already cuddled up with the rest of the RINOs on the school board throughout the campaign. He seems to be a typical bureaucrat more interested in personal gain and prestige and protecting the establishment instead of representing the people who elected him. His voting record and actions or inactions on the school board has already proven this. This charlatan hoodwinked his district and now is a lockstep Cheeseman puppet.
Don Shreve is usually an advocate for conservative values. Why he would make a motion to close the school seems out of place. He doesn't seem to be a Cheeseman ally and normally has not supported most of the superintendent's wilder, leftist efforts. Maybe Cheeseman threatened to take teachers away from Bath like he attempted to do earlier this year unsuccessfully if Shreve didn't "get in line".

Conservative Voter: Sounds like a case of "Hello pot, I'm kettle" to me. Seems like this Jody has been doing this on a regular basis. Aren't Democrats the ones who traditionally refer to name calling when facts can't support their position.

I wasn't aware that Shreve or Carlton were members of any PAC. Which PAC is that? Is the Beaufort County Republican party a PAC, or the executive committee for that matter? It would appear to me that they believe they are if you look at how the operate. Dreadful. Save Snowden! Vote out the rats!

It's that time of year again. The Superintendent should receive a performance review from the school board and it should be sent on to NC DPI as required by state statute. It will be interesting to see if the weak school board grows a spine this year and actually does its job. Cheeseman would be right to worry given his abysmal job performance but it is highly doubtful the board will give him a poor review, if indeed, they give him one at all. Special attention should be paid to how the new, supposedly "conservative" school board members, Daniel Hudson and Stacey Davis approach the issue.

Cox is not the most qualified candidate for Sheriff. In addition to his questionable ethics concerning party disloyalty, he abused his authority while serving as a member of the Beaufort County Sheriff Department when he was employed there. It is easy to see that he is only seeking office for personal gain or other personal reasons. He is not a person of the high moral fiber or character that we expect, not only of our elected officials, but also of the law enforcement officers we count on to keep us safe. That is NOT the type of leadership we need in law enforcement in our county! I would not recommend or endorse him for Sheriff.

South Carolina mandated use of E-Verify for all employers in the state more than a decade ago. Other states such as Florida have also done this. All federal contractors are required to use E-Verify. This system, although imperfect, does a good job in helping employers curb the number of illegals being employed in their respective states and nationwide.

We went to war with England over taxes and lack of representation. Carlo Cipolla, an economic historian, noted that absolute monarchs never drew more than 5-8% of their nation’s income in taxes but today our federal government extorts between 40-60% in direct and indirect taxes. This trickles down through all levels of government. We need a fundamental change in Beaufort County that will destroy the current system that has produced bad and ugly, self-serving politicians and restore a government that allows for the development of, and is run by, statesmen. This is what a liberty-based society is built upon, as originally envisioned by our founding fathers and spelled out in the founding documents. The essence of a liberty-based society is that it has limited government, sound money, low taxes and is based on the free and unfettered consent of the governed. This has not existed in America for more than a century and a half. It doesn’t have to remain this way in our county, state or country. The population is starting to wake up and realize this. We also need a School Board that stands up to a leftist Superintendent who prioritizes indoctrination over actual education so that our children don’t grow up misguided and susceptible to the continued abuse inflicted upon our population by self-serving politicians and bureaucrats. IT IS TIME FOR OVERDUE, MUCH NEEDED, CHANGE! BRING ON DOGE! I encourage everyone to attend the Commissioner’s meeting Monday, March 10th at 5:30 and make your voices heard.

Van Zant: It will take a concentrated effort to bring to light the sins committed by the Superintendent and Board to the public at large. These people work for us, the constituents, and we need to remind them of it by showing up to meetings, speaking out against what is happening, and electing individuals who actually realize they represent the people who placed them in their positions. The last time I read the Constitution it said that our system of government is based upon the free and unfettered consent of the governed. Elected officials serve the public, not the other way around. Their power is derived from the people who elected them. At least that's how it is supposed to work in our free society as opposed to an empire or dictatorship. We must elect strong individuals of high moral character who understand this and have the fortitude and courage to do what is right and not operate like those currently filling these seats as discussed in previous comments below. The hypocrisy continues with these elected officials paying lip service to the public while pursuing their own personal agendas which place their own personal interests above those of the people they are meant to represent. The same can be said for most of our County Commissioners as well. We went to war with England over taxes and lack of representation. Carlo Cipolla, an economic historian, noted that absolute monarchs never drew more than 5-8% of their nation’s income in taxes but today our federal government extorts between 40-60% in direct and indirect taxes. IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE!

One of the most, if not the most, important and expensive crops in Beaufort County is the crop of children. It takes as much time to mature such a crop as it does a fast-growing forest, and it requires constant care. A 2021 analysis by LendingTree ranked North Carolina as the 44th most expensive state to raise a child, with an annual cost of $16,444, or $295,000 over the span of 18 years. The fraud, waste and abuse of our taxpayer dollars by the current Superintendent, School Board, and County Commissioners are failing our children. This has a direct impact on many other aspects of life in our county. An uneducated, or undereducated, population does not provide businesses with the workforce required to be successful. It does not attract outside investment or bring new opportunities to the county. Unfortunately, many of our best educated youth do not stay at home after they grow up. Many of them relocate to distant cities or even leave our great State. As a matter of fact, we are “exporting” our children, our most valuable commodity, leaving our county which paid to raise them with no return in wealth for their loss. This is irresponsible, unsustainable and must be corrected if we don’t want to become a bedroom community for retired Yankees and our citizens relegated to low paying jobs to cater to these outsiders.

This would-be oligarch has established himself as Supreme Leader of Beaufort County Schools subverting the weak school board to his will. He completely botched the response to COVID setting our students back by years and yet has the audacity to still blame COVID for the failing scores that our schools receive. More than half (50%) of our county schools are still considered underperforming receiving grades of "D and F". It is time to remove him and find a competent leader who is not a California liberal and get rid of the spineless school board members who bow to his every whim. The latest debacle regarding the construction of a new school in Washington costing our county's taxpayers an additional half million dollars should be all the proof that is necessary to pursue this course of action. And the county commissioners have increased taxes this year and see no issue with the current spend and tax culture they use to benefit themselves and their cronies.

DOGE is a good thing. The federal government has usurped the power of the people and the sovereignty of the individual states for more than 150 years. Bureaucrats and career politicians have fattened themselves at the expense of the American people. We need a return to constitutional government based on the free and unfettered consent of the people carried out by leaders with intellect and common sense . The Tenth Amendment to our Constitution states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." It is time to significantly reduce the size of the federal government, return the powers to the people and states, and follow a pragmatic course that eliminates fraud, waste and abuse that exist throughout the bloated bureaucracy of the federal government.

This is a good move on the part of the administration. Destroying the cartels will not only be good for America but for Mexico and countless people throughout South America. Elevating them to the status of terrorist organizations and not just criminal ones will make it easier to bring other agencies and assets into the effort to end the criminal activities perpetrated by the cartels. We should look at them in the same light as Al Qaeda, ISIS and the pirates operating in Middle Eastern waters. Members of these organizations are not entitled to the rights, privileges and protections of U.S. citizens, nor should they be. Armed drone strikes and special operations forces can have major impact when properly utilized. Maybe the war on drugs will finally see results.

There is a program called E-Verify that compares information from a person’s Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security records to confirm that person’s identity and that they are eligible for employment in the United States. Using this system to verify all employees is mandatory for all federal contractors. Some states have their own laws as well that require the system’s use by state contractors or for all employers in the state in some circumstances. Some of these states include Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Universal use of E-Verify is a simple solution that would eliminate issues such as those expressed in this article.

Individuals with security clearances are required to go through in depth background investigations. These investigations become more involved and expansive the higher the level of clearance being required. There are also requirements for people holding security clearances to receive periodic recertification investigations. These are at the 10 year mark for SECRET and 5 year mark for TOP SECRET clearance levels. These reviews and processes are in place to prevent individuals receiving clearances who may be at risk for compromise. Although the system is effective in the majority of cases, human behavior and an individual's personal circumstances change with the passage of time. Someone who is not a threat to national security today could always become one in the future for any number of reasons. The decision to terminate and revoke the clearance of personnel who may be compromised is the right decision. Furthermore, anyone who holds a security clearance has a moral obligation to remain beyond reproach in their conduct and it is a matter of personal responsibility to do so.

The School Board will tell you there is no DEI in Beaufort County but that is not true. The Early College is filled with it. The Big Cheese himself brought the head of BCCC to a board meeting last year to defend the things being exposed to Early College students including Rainbow Unicorn LGBTQ+ handouts. The Early College is still a part of Beaufort County schools and accountable to the same standards. Being associated with the community college does not change that fact.
