I think Tyre is describing himself here.

City Councilman Anthony Tyre wrote:
The Dunning–Kruger effect is when limited understanding creates inflated confidence, people who know the least often speak the most certain.
Next time, I think I will clock him to see how many minutes he rants/rambles out of a single hour.
If someone would use a "point of order" on his speech, maybe the City meetings wouldnt be so LONG!

no, no, no.
Fritz got the most votes from the Citizens of Washington, then of all the other candidates.
If there had been a boycott against his business, there would have an explosion of new customers to offset that boycott.
Regardless, it is urgent that he rescind this bad decision, and come back fighting. He has the ability to organize supporters if he will just ask. We are not mind reader.
People often think they are alone...when they are NOT.

If Fritz's business is being threatened, it is safer for him to be on the council than off it.
In my opinion, Brabo's business would already be shut down if she wasnt Mayor. Tho I do believe she has lost control over her Mayorship. Letting the 3 avengers run roughshod over Davis was a disgrace. They took Davis' HRC position away, then tried to nominate Tyre to it. He begged his way off, whining that he was already a liaison for 2 committees. Well suck it up buttercup bec u guys are now going to have to double down on committee jobs.

Concerned Taxpayer, In Nick Fritz Facebook post, he defended Sadler and Tyre. WHY? Does anyone know?
I will never forget Tyre telling a constituent: "If you dont like how we do things, hire a lawyer."
Well Brabo did and look at the mess that has caused. She had to do it, unlike most of us) because she had a business to defend. So I dont blame her at all.
I know that Perreault was calling for everyone to be a team player. Well, I cant forget that is what manager Russell was doing right after he demoted the police chief...calling that demoted police chief a team player.
Those are all peculiar things to me. Or i should say personnel CONTROL strategies by govt.

Councilman Fritz said: "Democracy is a sham.
The government is run by a bureaucracy. Department’s decide what they think is best, they set their own budgets and formulate their own recommendations."

Ya'll didnt just think that the bureaucrats were going to simply rollover and play dead did ya?
Divide and conquer is a good gameplan and it looks like that was played. Someone got to Perreault who promptly sided with Horton and Tyre, who (Tyre) dominated all the meetings with rig-a-ma-roll, making simple folks heads explode, and/or feeling like the world has gone mad.
The first week of the new council should have been to fire all the Dept heads and replace all the rot on the committees...(people who have been on these for many years, playing like Gods.)

Did Nick Fritz really just resign from the city council?
I say dont let him. Tell the City Council NOT TO ACCEPT his resignation.

Why the lack of competence from this committee? AND, you will have to wait a month or more to see the transcript.

Also for inquiring minds: new City manager's contract is for $185,000 through 2028. Info From WDNs.

If a citizen points out a problem, whose job is it to make sure tht issue doesnt just fall into a blackhole. Sloppy govts open the door to corrupt govts.
In meeting minutes the transcripts constantly refer to STAFF said this or STAFF said that. Well who the hell is Mr Staff? Doesnt he have a name or title? I see it as an attempt to obfiscate so that no one can be held accountable.
Maybe I should ask a councilmember, but I have a feeling they wouldnt know the answers.
Why does it take a whole month to see meeting transcripts. Ya know this isnt the fifties. If there is not a monthly meeting, then it takes 2 months to see it. This is bad, lazy govt. But do they want to do better?

Ray did a good job explaining how local political parties work or dont work.
He explained some of the flaws and searched for a root to those things.
Now I wonder if he would care to attempt to explain to us how city govt in eastern NC work, or dont work. Where are the breakdowns? How can they be fixed. What is the job of the elected council? Do they represent us, or dictate to us, hide things from us so that govt is easier to manage? Whose job is it to fix it, other than the election process.
Please explain some of these Depts as shown on city webpages. For example, look at www.washingtonnc.gov
What is the job of all these people? Who is the boss of all thes
people? What is the chain of command? Are they all needed?
At the recent council meeting it was said that when the Planning Dept gets a Project going, they then hire a consultant to run it. Really? Who hires?

CV, Could Tyre make u be mean & vengeful to another, if u werent
already leaning that way? I know Davis exposed Perreault for screaming at B.R. so loudly it could b heard through th walls. That would anger me too, but Perreault had already showed himself 2b an emotional hothead that needed exposing. What had Bobby done to hm? Dont forget that Tyre had already been ragging on BR from day 1. WHY? What was th conflict? The 2nd most painful thing i do is watch the Council meetings. The MOST painful thing I do is rewind & watch again the ramblings of some as they are making us read their minds and read between the lines, to understand what the hell they are getting at.

At this recent meeting, Perreault also express anger that Davis had supported a TX Christian college that had offered free service to City employees. He was also angry that Davis had reached out to ECU, BCCC, w/out getting permission from th whole Council.WHY? Cant a membr talk independently w other entities? Perreault says he is afraid employees will feel pressured by Christianity? What? R they so weak they cant control selves? Brabo has lost control of th meetings. She was being led like she had a nose ring. She should be giving Davis equal time, reminding others to control their emotions and think twice b4 speaking. Brabo stopped Davis from speaking on Perreault screaming at the CM, but allowed Perreault to continue his assault on Davis: who was demanding that Davis's home not be given Historical status because he is a sitting council member.

I like to think about Conspiracy theories. I find them entertaining.
So why has JDavis been targeted for erasure by a Washington group?
Is it because he "thinks out loud" and publishes what he's thinking?
Some people test drive their ideas in a public way, never expecting pple to adopt it--just asking them to think about it. Ppl shouldnt b treated like criminals for this.
Or is it because he is a religious man, wearing it on his sleeve?
A religious man is scary to Progressives. The whole thing sets their
hair on fire. They know a religious man takes God as his master, &
never another human. Rightly or wrongly he believes God is on his
side. Progressives know they cant control him. Hence he must b
destroyed. They dont dare let his ideas catch on locally.

To prove a conspiracy theory, I must 1st determine who THEY are. Its
hard to do tht locally bec some pple r a bit of both sides. Its like Kamala's Venn diagram.
Take it or leave it--these r my thoughts. I could b right.I could b wrong.

Washington govt has some serious in-your-face issues, but we wouldnt know it by looking only at this forum where the favorite subject is Hood.
I'm thinking is this the most important issue locally? I'm thinking no...that it's a diversion...look over here at this shiny thing. Dont look at what th City is doing in the darkness. They hired a city manager w/out a public Council vote as required by law. They stopped Davis from talking twice (Monday) using a point of order. Then they voted to remove him from 2 committees that he had been appointed to. You think "they" are out to get Hood, but even more so out to get Davis. He is being erased as the SovietUnion use to do to the regime's enemies. Davis said things in public...but the secret cabal, said u cant do tht & we will show u the power we hav.
It may even be the GOP Victory committee leading this assault, showing they would rather u talk abt Hood. Remember when Garris/Kidwell were callin 4 resignations.

JohnSS,
According to the Facebook posted by Joe Davis and the letter he cited from Mayor Ellen Brabo, Jonathan N. Rorie has already officially been hired.
Color me puzzled that she had to "announce" this decision to a voting member.

I saw this on Joe Davis's Facebook page. He wrote what you see below:

"Just received this email:
Good morning,
We are excited to share an important update with you all. The City of Washington has officially hired a new City Manager, Jonathan N. Rorie, MPA, who will begin his role on Monday, April 13."

The email was signed by Ellen Brabo. My question is...did this guy get hired without a meeting and vote at which JoeDavis would have been present???? Inquiring minds want to know.

AngryOnAguila, you make an excellent point. Screaming at anyone in a meeting shows an unfitness that in normal times absolutely does call for a resignation. I've gotten so use to rude violent behavior from so many beings on this planet that I actually just took it with a grain of salt. I'm glad your reminded me that, that kind of behavior shows a kind of 21st Century mental illness so prevalent today.
An apology to the whole City is definitely a Must, and the least that must be done.

While I want to criticize people in Govt for actions that I consider negligent and unprofessional, or even ignorant, I would always do that with courtesy. Sometimes I almost have to bite my tongue off. If you have ever been that one person with your hair on fire, you know what I mean, but being professional is what an adult must do!

YIKES! It was already bad enough that we citizens had to worry about retaliation from the City's bureaucrats. In the future we may have to worry about lawsuits against us as well. HOw many future businesses would want to locate to such an environment?

Why would any sane group of people choose to create such a totalitarian environment for a small town with less than 10,000 citizens? I say again... Washington is broken.

Why isnt Washington Govt the topic of every conversation, every day?
Commented: Thursday, April 9th, 2026 @ 4:31 pm By: Washingtonian
I'm curious, what parts of our geography would be inviting to businesses?
Do we have a lot of vacant buildings where small businesses could locate with walking traffic? Where is the vacant land that large businesses would want to locate? It matters because current citizens will object to certain businesses locating too closely to their homes. But curious minds do want to know? Where?
East side, west side, north side, south side??

However, if I had a choice, I would put my business outside the city so I wouldnt have to pay City taxes too!! I mean, what smart person wants to live under county AND City bureaucratic rules, if they can avoid it?

Seems to me like the County Govt and our State Reps should be prodded to pick up the slack and do something besides just lazily place yea and nay vote on meeting day.

I think City Govt just needs to cease treating WeTheCitizens like noisy & bothersome humans. Anyone afraid of transparency is hiding something.

I hadnt thought much about our declining population until Councilman Joe Davis made an issue of it. Whatever is causing it began a Long time ago. The problem may be rooted in not just City failures, but also County failures? or even State Legislator failures. Or it may even come from citizens who are NOT recommending to friends that they move here.
Why would a young person move here? For Jobs and activities! Why would a retired person move here? For good doctors, safety and activities. Washington doesnt have specialized doctors. People must go to Greenville for that.
Everyone wants an Honest, RESPONSIVE, Transparent Govt. Do we have that?

Nationally we are hearing of massive fraud in states like California and Minnesota.
Federal and State Funds provided for the health of its citizens is being stolen by the BILLION$.
How does this happen? It appears that the Govt GIVES the Money, but NO one is designated as responsible for monitoring how that money is being distributed at the local level.

It reminds me of Hood's repeated complaint to his fellow Commissioners who Fund projects but REFUSE to set up any kind of accountability as to where that $$ goes afterwards. It should be a wake-up call for everyone who works in Govt.
Trust, but we must verify!!
You know why 3rd worlders say white people are stupid? This is the reason. Third Worlders know that if they dont guard their stuff & your rights, someone is going to lie, cheat, and steal to take it.
Think locally.

It appears to me that the local "GOP Party" has adopted the Democrat Party philosophy: "The Ends justify the means."
They double down, because like the Dems, they believe that if they just stick with the plan, they will eventually achieve their goals.
Its the Marxist Way. It spreads because our culture is degrading right before our eyes. Think Local!

Does the DOT plan for 15th street allow for big trucks, such as dump trucks or even log trucks?
Is the new plan intended to be a WAshington bypass, for the eastern folks to get to Greenville?

I only travel 15th street about twice a month and usually after 5:00 oclock, but I never see a problem with it. I choose it over 5th street which I consider more dangerous than any other roadway.

The Government of the City of Washington is BROKEN.

It didnt just get broken, I've known its been broken for years, but sadly getting a new mayor, 3 new council members and a new interim City Manager hasnt fixed it.

Returning Councilman Tyre is the one pointing it out.
Strangely enough, he never mentioned how broken it was over the last few years. But if he's a changed man, who am I to argue with it.

Anyone else want to discuss their own perceptions of how broken Washington City govt is? Maybe you should watch the meetings.

Tyre is now performing oversight over everything. I've got a few issues I'd like to see some oversight over. I'm thinking of testing him with my observations. If he really is seeking truth, and not just playing a game, I'd vote for him.

Anyone here have an opinion? Well of course you do. Everyone here has an opinion. LOL

BULL! Kidwell is a politician who represents the "money interest."
His ad on TV shows that he thinks of himself as part of a KINGDOM of self-serving politicians who he values more than the simple local voters that go to him with simple local needs. He doesnt have time for people like that. He isnt even willing to hear them out. He's too important to be bothered by little people problems.
All of them makes him the worse kind of Representative, he has forgotten what its like to be one of the people. He would rather rub elbows with the king makers. We NEED NEW PEOPLE. After a couple of years every politician becomes stale and corrupted. Kidwell is one of those. He proved it when he "demanded" the resignation of a couple of locals that we the people chose to represent us. He actually thought that he could control and shape our community into the image HE DESIRED. He has gotten too big for his britches. RETIRE KIDWELL. Maybe then we can fix what is wrong w our Beaufort Co. GOP Committee
