I am deeply concerned by what DPS is telling the House of Representatives in Austin. They say that there isn't all this crime going on out here. They say that because the colonias basically shut down when they came. It was like a ghost town the first two weeks they were here. The only traffic on the roads were cars with trailer loads full of household goods like they were moving or U-Hauls. We had none of our normal traffic, the weekend vendors are not there anymore, and we're not here in the automatic gun power every night. I don't mean any disrespect to the DPS gentleman that spoke in Austin but he is wrong. This is not a safe place to live nor is it a safe place to raise your children. I've been watching this issue going on since 2015. I have written representatives in Austin to know avail. We've written to Liberty County commissioners to no avail, the same with Montgomery County. Colony Ridge has bought and paid for all of them to keep their mouth shut or face retaliation.

John, FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT. I have seen so many talk about the rate decrease and blame the county for their tax increase. The average taxpayer does not understand what you just put in plain English. Well done sir. Now get on Facebook and shut down the misinformation coming from all directions on how this works, lol. The City increased taxes without providing more services. It is about like when they increased the rate .02 to save for the police station. They were supposed to give it back once it was built. Did they do that? NO! So that's an extra .02 that was diverted to fund their other pet projects and misuse of tax dollars.

It would do you some good to look at the budget before assuming. The $1,134,319 increase from FY23 to FY24 was without SROS. The funding for SROs was already in the budget for the county. It just simply moves the expense from the schools to the Sheriff's office. I agree. The SROs was a big win for taxpayers. If you are fine with the irresponsible spending coming from their office, vote accordingly. Good stewards don't buy their desk staff $500 suits on the taxpayer dime. They don't throw $500 retirement parties for their dogs with the tax payers money. They don't stay in $350+ a night hotels when traveling on the tax payers dime. All of this is public information. Maybe you should look into it yourself before taking everything at face value.

What should he have recused himself for? At the point the motion was made to loan the money, he hadn't sold the property to anyone. He was just a Council Member who owned property.

"We also know that Council Member Brooks bought two lots from the Housing Authority after making a motion to move the $580,000 out of the General Fund over to the Housing Authority and then sold it back the Housing Authority for a profit." He may have sold them to the Housing Authority, but to claim that he bought them after making a motion is simply not true. Those lots we purchased in 2012, DB 1778, P113. |

My son is severely disabled and no one wants to help him since we came to NC. In NY he received Medicaid based on his disability not income. Unfortunately we can’t afford to live in NY because we are retired and living on a limited income. I currently have 1100.00 in medical bills I cannot pay.
My son was adopted in NY and we received an adoption subsidy through NYC instead of Social Security disability. He was shaken at 2 1/2 months old by his foster mother. Because of this we were told we were not eligible for Medicaid even through the pickle act. Please help us help our son he cannot receive any services without it |

As a tax paying (on time) citizen of Beaufort County I propose the Commissioners and School Board submit to random drug testing. We need to know that the people controlling our tax dollars are drug free and pay taxes on time.

I would like to see his community school plan and the cost? Oh yea he is just running his mouth as usual and has no facts other than he feels that way. As a commissioner you have lost more full time residents than any other commissioner. Just think about that for one moment!! Only LEGAL votes should count. Everyone has an ID, to think on the contrary is ridiculous. We also NEED to get rid of the 3rd party unconstitutional machines to tabulate our vote. Transparency with hand counted paper ballots is the only way We the People will ever trust elections again. Period!
