the need for a pro-America curriculum in our schools

Oh, is that what you call facts that answer your Marxiat crap, Little Bobbie? There was a teacher fired at Washington high School for pushing this transgender crap in his classroom.

There was also a a teacher at Washington High School fired for promoting transgenderism in his classroom, but he is not the only teacher to have done that or is doing that.

The gender unicorn was passed out to a class of high school students at the Early College High school, not a class of college students.

Proseletyzing for the woke agenda is as bad as grading on it.

big Bob, Just for clarification, the gender unicorn was given to Early College Students in a BCCC class, not a Beaufort County Schools class. The majority of the classes Early College students take are BCCC that the school system has no say in what is being taught since it is a college class.

Hopefully voters will reject such an authoritarian view but one never knows.

Stan-the only qualification for a US history curriculum is that it be the truth.

I hope voters would agree, anyone advocating propaganda in a history class is really unfit to be making such decisions.

No examples? Really
At least Bubba took a shot and made a good point.

Steve Rader ... You are right: NC, and Beaufort County MUST have a pro America /One Community curriculum for Social Studies, Civics and all divisions of History classes.

Our public Education Industry, has, is, and will let our Self Governed Society down further if change is not abrupt.

Gender unicorn?
Not exactly part of the curriculum. As long as students are not forced to participate or graded on the activity, it likely isn't the end of the world. Some kids and families might appreciated it.

The mere mention of gender issues is not grounds to fire anyone.

Community standards vary and teachers should read the room.

I remember a woke "gender unicorn" flyer being passed out to students at Beaufort County Early College High School that students and parents objected to. and complaints were made to the school board. That is one that got a lot of public attention. The teacher that passed something like that out should have been fired.

If by W, you mean me.

Ya know... NOW doesnt charge you by the word on this platform. So, Why so vague. If you've got something to criticize, than elaborate, SAY It.
I'm not a mind reader... and if you seriously read my post, the school curriculum wasnt the subject of my post.

That social studies woke curriculum that the Beaufort County schools teachers committee tried to push through for adoption is probably the best example. Nobody can monitor all classrooms, but since it has been mentioned by a school board member that teachers are putting together their own curriculum for social studies, if they liked that woke curriculum for the whole system, it raises concerns that what they putting together classroom by classroom is likely similar.

More word salad.
Can anyone provide a specific example of something currently being taught in a BCS that is inappropriate for children?

W- One concrete example. Not a word salad.

Bob, in any school system, you find some teachers who push an ideology in the classroom. Fortunately most teachers are more objective than that. The real problem comes from the textbook companies, which today are curriculum companies, delivering a digital product as much as one in printed textbooks, together with appointed state school boards that have a heavy ideological tilt. That has been problem in North Carolina due to the very left wing state school board appointees by Roy Cooper.

The current Social Studies curriculum in our state is very woke, and was strongly resisted by the two Republicans on the state school board for that reason. Many teachers just surrender to "state standards" even if they are not woke themselves. Under NC education law, local school boards have the authority to determine what meets state standards, and the state has no veto over them. Local school boards need to exercise their authority in avoiding a woke curriculum or at the very least telling both sides.

Some states have taken strong action on curriculum, Florida probably the strongest. However, even some Republican run states have been asleep at the switch on this. Alaska hired an outside consultant to develop their social studies curriculum, and ended up with one that does not even mention George Washington or Abraham Lincoln. In Iowa, the governor and legislative leadership hit the roof when they saw a state curriculum that promoted illegal immigration and the global warming ideology while downplaying our founding fathesr.

Currently, Beaufort County Schools has not had a social studies curriculum for quite a few years. Teachers are pulling together materials on their own. We need a good pro-America curriculum in this area.

We hav all learned abt how th anti-America left tookover th teacher's unions to indoctinate our children.
We hav heard abt Soros paying to get hs OWN DA's elected throughout th USA in order to control th future. Cities throughout th US r electing anti-America people. So why cant we logically assume that th cities in NC r being indoctrinated by a common denominator n most cities. We elect newbie council pple who we think will hav a mind of their own, but th 1st thing that happens is they r warned, "be careful" wht u say. U could get th city sued. B fearful of THE Pple, bec they want th truth, & We n Govt cant tell them th truth or they will rise up against us. Who teaches th newbies we elect this stuff? Well its th NCLM, League of Muncipalities. They even coach our police on policies to protect selves from Citizens. If other orgs become radical,so can NCLM. Washington is sick.
They r VAGUE abt everything. Nothin n writing. Constant spin. They'r scared to death of us. So Who can u TRUST?

Question:
Can anyone provide a specific example of something currently being taught in a BCS that is inappropriate for children?

If we are going to trash our friends and neighbors who teach in the county, I for one would like to know the answer to my question. Voters would too.

The radical teachers unions are a big part of what is skewing our schools to the left, In North Carolina, that is the NCAE, the state affiliate of the NEA. Back when school administrations were doing a dues checkoff from the paychecks, a significant majority of NC teachers belonged to this union, including here in Beaufort County. Some quit paying when the dues checkoff ended, but it is still a substantial part of the roster of local teachers.

The danger is letting these NCAE teachers have control of our curriculum.

To make matters worse, we will have two retired NCAE teachers on the school board itself. The liberal leader on the school board, Carolyn Walker, is pushing building a liberal majority on our school board.

One local parent I know had to take her daughter out of Beaufort County schools due to a politically biased teacher at the Early College High School. That teacher not only injected "wokeness" into her teaching but grading students who disagree with it down, and those who agreed with it up. We do NOT need teachers like that in our schools at all, and particularly not on committees reviewing the curriculu,.
Commented: Monday, September 28th, 2026 @ 1:44 pm By: Rino Hunter
Politically biased teachers are indeed a problem in local schools. Children in my family have had some wonderful teachers who did not bring their politics into the classroom, but they have also had a smaller number of teachers who wore their politics on their sleaves. Some of these teachers constantly injected the woke narrative into their teaching, even when not related to the topic at hand. Others have treated conservative kids badly and used politics of kids in grading. It is happening in our own schools, not by the majority of teachers but by enough to make it a concern.

So, when teachers sign up to review a curriculum, is it the objective non-political teachers wgi end up on those committees, or the ones pushing their own political narrative?

BB says "Govern better" if you dont want socialism. Last I looked most of us have no power to "govern" at all. The oligarchs may be power-brokers, but there R power brokers of lessor known status as well. Who are they?
Well I wish I had kept a list of all those city managers, and police chiefs in eastern NC who have recently resigned or been fired. I believe there was even a city attorney who resigned blaming corruption in his town.
So what is broken in NC? What is the common denominator of all these sick cities? Perhaps it is the NC League of Municipalities who instruct all the cities on how to govern. Are they WOKE, or All Democrats, or socialist seeking to take all the power to themselves? Could be as simple as that.
Someone is telling city govt ppl, Not to ever admit wrong. Never admit they have the power to fix anything. Hide the truth, document NOTHING, be vague about laws, dont enforced those laws, while NCLM teaches cities "How to 'Work' the system."
