I don't think we will. If we don't do a good job, in two years things could change.
We have so much more in common than our differences. Democrats have learned a lot from trump, but I hope we are never that hate driven and petty. As we can all see, it's not the way to win friends and influence people.

I think we will be seeing some major power moves from the Democrats to upend how our Constitutional republic has functioned for over 200 years and to set the stage for a Democrat one party state. No, they won't abolish the Republican Party, just rig the system where it can never come to power again.
The first is likely to be ending the filibuster in the senate. This will make it easier for Democrats to ram their legislation through Congress. The filibuster protects the rights of the legislative minority, which the Democrats were all for when they were the minority, but now that the Republicans are the minority, they would prefer to be able to just run over them. That only takes a majority of the Senate to change senate rules, so I think this will happen soon after Democrats are sworn in. A second major target is the Electoral College, and I think it is likely that the Democrats will take this down before the 2028 election. With legislative results, their compact of states will probably put that scheme in play. Will the Supreme Court have the backbone to stop that play? Unlikely with people like John Roberts running things. The Democrats will try to perpetuate their control of the Senate by making the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico states, giving them four more senators. The president does not have a veto over that. Democrats will want to pack the courts, especially the Supreme Court, but since the president has to nominate judges, there are limits on what they can do. Still congress has the power to change the jurisdiction of various courts, so we may see some power plays around that. A majority of Democrat senate candidates in this last election openly advocated packing the Supreme Court. Most of the rest were, like Roy Cooper, evasive on the issue.

Bob, do you make your material up yourself or is it just cut and paste of leftwing talking points? If anyone remembers Bidenflation, what happened in the grocery stores then was exactly what has happened now. The price of fuel to transport goods drove up the cost of the goods.
We also remember that Biden sold oil out of our strategic reserves overseas, including to Communist China during Covid. Anyone remember the price of eggs under Biden? IT took Trump getting into office to bring that one down. Biden was all-in on what European farmers call "Climate Communism" something that raises the prices of not only gas and diesel, but also electricity. The so-called "inflation Reduction Act" was actually the Green New Deal, and drove up energy prices in many sectors.

None of that is true. It was the supply chain interruptions cause by covid.

Biden's mess was the result of the climate crazies, and today's mess is, too. Refined products are so high because of reduced refinery capacity in California and in Europe caused by the climate crazies. Trump has done all he could to block the climate nutters. It is NOT the increase in the cost of raw petroleum that has driven diesel up so much, as the reduction in refinery capacity to produce it.
Democrats have leaned on Covid for lots of things, like corrupting our election process, but it had nothing to do with the inflation of the Biden era, known as Bidenflation.

Under Biden policies, gas and groceries went up even more, without a war as an excuse. I see the Democrat ideology doing the exact same thing again. The Democrats bull-headed war on oil and gas will resume.
The rise in the price of refined petroleum products like diesel and gasoline is due more to a shortage of refinery capacity than to a shortage of raw petroleum. It is radical environmentalism that has caused that problem. That has led Europe to cut its own refinery capacity. Here in the US, radical environmentalism in California has shut 4 out of 10 of their refineries, amounting to about half of the state's capacity. Texas and Louisiana refineries have had to run wide open to try to compensate. Democrat control of levers of power will likely cause more attacks on refinery capacity. Don't expect a Democrat congress to do a damn thing about restoring our refining capacity. If anything, they will try to reduce it further due to their knee-jerk climate alarmism.

The nice thing about affordability is it’s mostly connected to the war in Iran. While I agree Trump has made such a mess of global energy markets, it’s hard to see an easy way out.
Congress must do all it can to get the price of diesel down. It won’t be easy.

Bob, you see the world through the prism of far left talking points. You cannot even sit down and listen to what these Democrats have been talking about since the election. That you are somewhere to the left of Stalin does not help.
Democrats are not going to do a darn thing about "affordability" and never were.

Watching Democrat political pronouncements and commentary today, it is clear that they have already forgotten their fake "affordability" issue. They are more into open borders, socialism, and "get Trump". They don't even talk about affordability now or have any plans to deal with it.
The reality is that Democrats want to spend more money on their various schemes, and more money spending means more inflation and higher prices.
