Citizens should do more to really find out about politicians. Working for a candidate at the polls can open your eyes to reality on lots of local politicians. Sites like this help a lot, too. Many politicians project themselves as something they are not. I voted for Randy Walker the first time he ran, believing his statements that he was a conservative. Then I saw in the last primary where he and his wife worked against all the conservatives running locally at the Chocowinity Fire Station precinct, and particularly hard against the conservative school board candidates. His wife Carolyn is on the school board. Voters need to study the candidates not just fall for what they tell you. Democrats will lie to you but so will some who are running on the Republican ticket.

Steve, I did not endorse all of the changes. You have some good argument on the issues you presented. The corruption, the secrecy, the manipulation against conservatives and the un ethical use of party funds is still there in in the Beaufort County Republican Party, and many other county parties.

Good point, CG. I agree, but there IS a slight difference. A RINO like, say, Randy Walker, will tell you he is a "conservative" and then vote consistently as a liberal. For a Democrat, like Spanberger, they claim to be a "moderate" and then govern like a far left socialist. It is the same concept but with somewhat different starting and ending points. Politicians always lie to voters about being more conservative than they really are, not the other way round.

Talk about conflict of interest. Crooked Biden Judge Sparkle is foreign born and is abusing her office to try to keep foreign citizens, including illegal aliens, illegally on our American voter rolls. There ought to be a way to toss crooked judges like Sparkle out of office very quickly.

This is another one of those nationwide injunctions that the Surpreme Court has expressed concern about but not yet taken meaningful action on. They need to get down to business and flatly prohibit them.

This despicable crooked judge knows full well that she will almost certainly be overruled when this case gets to an appellate court, but that will take time and she is just delaying that during a critical time before the midterm elections, to keep these illegal aliens on the voter rolls long enough for them to help the Democrats through that election. Most criminals that appear in Sparkle's court are robabaly more honest than she is. Sparkle is totally unfit to be a judge

The best way to deal with anti-American federal judges like this is to indict them for treason, and use Lincoln's precedent of prosecuting treason through military courts. Any federal district judge would have a conflict of interest over the prosecution of another district court judge. One can also remember that Lincoln issued an order for the arrest of the Chief Justice of the United States, and then recalled it when the Chief Justice decided not to do what Lincoln thought he was about to do. Lincoln knew how to deal with an out of control judge, even when it was the Chief Justice, and how to avoid potentially out of control judges.

then there was Andrew Jackson who told judges that they could write all the orders they wanted, but if he chose not to enforce them, they would be meaningless.

Brazil, today, is a clear example of a judicial dictatorship, something America needs to avoid.

VZ, it is all about Carolyn Walker being the liberal prima donna of the school board. She can't get away with that when the board has a large conservative group, so she works consistently against the conservatives. Carolyn Walker is the most vocal liberal on the board with T. W. Allen probably next. The Walkers worked against all three conservatives on the school board last time. Randy just does what he is told by Carolyn. Since their family business closed down on Main Street in Washington, I understand Randy now works as a security guard at ECU. I imagine they need those school board and county commission salaries.

Hood, your view on the new NCGOP Plan of Organization is very different from most NC conservatives.

A few weeks before the NCGOP state convention, I was one of five panelists on the subject of the then proposed new Plan at a statewide meeting of the Conservative Coalition of North Carolina (CCNC). Two panelists supported the Plan, with reservations> Three of us felt the concerns outweighed any benefits. After the panel, the CCNC as a body voted unanimously to oppose the new proposed Plan and circulate flyers on its flaws.

Generally, the new Plan of Organization continues to increase the top-down control of the party at the expense of the influence of the grassroots.

Some of the objections were:

- Until now, there has always been at least one path to offer Plan amendments from the convention floor and pass them by simple majority. Now that has been raised to 2/3rds and only then after first submitting the amendment 15 days in advance to the Plan of Organization Committee.

- the Arbitration Committee is no longer objectively established but instead is personally handpicked by the state chairman for each case.

- Until now, party chairmen at all levels have had "general supervision of the party with the advice and consent of the executive committee". The new Plan removes the language on the the advice and consent of the executive committee.-

- until now, the Plan has had roles for various party committees in legislative candidate recruitment. Those are all removed in the new Plan. This comes as legislative leadership, which historically has not been that conservative has been working to assert itself as the source of legislative candidate recruitment instead of the party structure doing it. Party activists tend to look for candidates who will represent local interests and conservative principles, while the legislative leadership is looking for yes-men who will do what they are told.

- it makes amendments to the Platform and to the Resolutions report much more difficult. These can no longer be offered from the convention floor unless submitted 15 days in advance to the committee (and the party these days has not even been offering contact information on committee leaders). Most delegates have not even read those reports by that time, so they are denied an opportunity to participate. The new Plan also requires a 2/3rd vote to change anything the committees have done, compared to a simple majority vote now.

There is lots more. I have been attending state GOP conventions since 1973 and served on the state Plan of Organization Committee myself five times, chairing it twice, and this ranks as the worst proposed Plan I have ever seen, even worse than last year's failed Plan.

As to the Victory Committee, the local Republican Party has had something like it for a long time. When I was county GOP chairman in the 1980s, we called it the Campaign Committee. These committees operate to support all Republican candidates at General Election time and do not get involved in primaries.

Elected officials come & go but Bureaucrats R forever.
Each newly elected official is indoctrinated by th anonymous entity known as "the Staff."
I recall, calling our elected pple on an issue & being told by each: "I dont know I'll hav to ask th CityManager." So I decided, why waste my time on these City Council peope, I'll go straight to th CM. CM's love this. Its th point that a CM knows that he's th boss (by popular opinion), NOT THE COUNCIL. The Council has been neutered. As th system exist, I suspect this happens EVERYWHERE! Parts of this is why pple dream of term-limits. They know th inner workings R rotten & need a new awakening. That's also why we cant bring back Sadler. He was a rubberstamp for "the STAFF, as much as anyone. So HOW do we find a
replacement for Fritz who isnt a rubberstamper, treehugger, a butter-my-breader & worse yet, what th insiders call "a teamplayer."
The last policeChief was demoted. Yet th CM called hm a team-player. What does that mean? Follow th $.

pirate, the second conservative school board member defeated in the primary was Donald Schreve of Bath. Schreve was a solid vote on curriculum matters and most things, but upset some conservatives enough with his vote to close Snowden, and that got him opposition from two directions. Both the liberal Carolyn Walker network and some conservative elements both went after him. This is where the other candidate connected to the teachers union was elected.
