One has to remember the origin of the term "Fifth Column". General Franco during the Spanish Civil War once told a reporter "I have four columns marching on the city and a Fifth Column ready to rise up within it" Since then, the term "Fifth Column" has been a term for the enemy within. Carolyn and Randy Walker are part of the Fifth Column within the county Republican Party. They have adopted a Republican facade for show but at their core the y are still liberal Democrats.

Pirate fan, I do not relish the inter sanctum of politics. However, there are a lot of very improper practices that are keeping the voters of Beaufort County from getting a reduction in taxes. The Beaufort County Republican Party is at the center of a lot of corrupt practices that the public is not aware of. It is not honest to represent yourself as one thing while you are actually doing he opposite.

From what I hear the Walkers were sticking their noses in lots of races this time, including the commissioner races and the sheriff's race and perhaps others. I hear they were also campaigning hard against Sheriff Hammonds. Hammonds opponent, Kerry Cox was forced to resign after the last sheriff's race for endorsing the Democrat in the general election while holding a party office in the GOP. After this election, Cox has turned all of his campaign sign boards over to the Democrat. This year's Democrat nominee is not qualified, having bounced around all over the state with different law enforcement agencies, never able to make a go of it anywhere. It has been a while since he worked in any type of law enforcement. The sour grapes of Cox is unbecoming.

Both Walkers come up for election again in 2028 and all of their activities in the 2026 primary are likely to motivate a lot of folks to help take them both out of office then. there is a saying that elephants have long memories.

I think a lot of our primaries would have come out differently if only Republicans were voting. We need to close our primaries. I wonder how many local Democrats temporarily switched to Unaffiliated to invade our primary? Carolyn Walker's campaign was actively encouraging that online in the last election. She probably would not have barely squeaked through the priamry if she had not engaged in that hanky panly.

Thank-you Washingtonian, but Ray Leary was right there by my side in that endeavor, and also provided his truck and some fine conversation as well that day.

I will admit to this one trait of mine: I relish the opportunity to use all manner of inanimate tools in the advancement of all worthy enterprises. The additional hardening of calluses on my hands and fingers is always welcome.

We also need to worry about Big Ag sneaking in pro-amnesty big farmers into our legislative delegation. Exploiting illegal aliens for farm work is part of the business model of Big Ag.

Obviously looking forward to buyer’s remorse as the electorate has traded an icon of truth and selfless service for a future of the unknown- we lost, people- not only the election, but a future of true representation of our beliefs. The debate tried to make it obvious, but the voters didn’t take heed. How sad!

Someone tell me if what I have been told is right. In the local Republican Executive Committee meetings (when they have one) the Chairman sometimes asks for a report from the County Commission. Doesn't she always ask for that report from Frankie Waters or Randy Walker and never from Commissioner Deatherage, Dunn or Richardson? Coincidence or indicator?

John Steed: I reiterate that my vote total for a Republican Primary was decent, and with Travis just 240 votes back, his vote total was decent too, and this was done without the Beaufort County GOP lifting a finger to drive voter turnout in an off year, weird time of the year primary.

The Unaffiliated voted in the Republican Primary for all seats, where candidates most resembled Democratic Socialists.
