Tillis' response claiming that the McCarthy climb down on debt was a huge spending cut is laughable. Almost all GOP activists know better than that. His NC colleague, Sen. Ted Budd called the McCarthy deal with Biden a bad one that accomplished almost nothing when he voted against it. When Tillis voted for the Biden-McCarthy deal, he aligned himself with a big majority of Senate Democrats and against almost two thirds of Senate Republicans. That bad vote was not something for Tillis to defend himself over, but instead another bad vote to censure him for.

The reception by convention delegates of NC members of Congress was telling. Most only got a polite applause, but when Congressman Dan Bishop, the only NC member to vote against the McCarthy debt deal took the stage, he was given a rousing standing ovasion, and his speech was interrupted multiple times by standing ovations. It was clear to anyone watching that GOP activists like Bishop's vote against the McCarthy deal a lot better than the others' vote for it.

It comes down to this question: Do you want any wild places on the planet? If the answer is yes, then you cant give all the trees to Weyerhaeuser. Its a complex issue and goes to the roots of who we are how we want to exist. Unfortunately there are few wild places left, certainly not in the Eastern US.

Take the divisions like NCGOPe, grassroots, patriots, insider, outsider et al out of it. What are we left with? A four-day convention including many speakers, events, dinners, and a little business.

What business did we accomplish? Saturday morning, we censored Senator Tillis for votes that were violations of our state and national Republican Party platforms. In the Saturday afternoon session, we were supposed to have elections for state party positions. For some reason (hum) electronic voting was reserved only for this portion of our business. The result was utter chaos. After a long time, we were told that Whatley (our pro Tillis chairman) had won, but there was no way to account for the legitimacy of the voting (like no paper trail). Because of the long-term confusion there was no time for the other state party elections. In short, a disaster.

Many of us, including me, only attended the business session of the convention in Greensboro on Saturday. The bright spot on all this was the good company of my travel companions. We left at 3am Saturday morning to attend. One of my companions was a first-time delegate and the other was a first-time visitor to our state convention. I have been to a good number of conventions over the years. We all sacrificed to go this year.

At this convention, I was ashamed to be a North Carolina Republican.

Everyone that manages forest land knows that Leftists know about as much about managing forests as they do about managing our energy development ... little to nothing.

Even here in eastern NC, the land managed by the US Forest Serves catches fire and burns at a greater rate than Weyerhaeuser's land, and forest land owned by individuals that manage their forests.

Smoke is just one of many things that degrade solar power and make it intermittant and unrelible. Some, like nightfall, happen daily. Others like clouds, fog, snow, frost,dew, etc. happen quite often, too. Only kneejerk climate alarmist ideologues would promote solar power for grid baseload. It leads to blackouts, brownouts, and skyrpcketing power bills. And some of the worst times for solar power to crap out are the times that electricity is most in demand like cold snaps. The same is true of wind power which has a tendency to fall off in particularly cold and hot periods, when electricity is most needed. Europe has also shown that months-long "wind droughts" happen that cause wind power to fall off severely for months.

Progressives have way too much in common with the communists, and we need to avoid them getting anywhere close to power. The terem "progressive" was used by the communists to mean a comvination of outright communists plus their "fellow travellers", people who believed largely the same things but were not formally members of the party. Today's progressives are similar.
