Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the subject of this pictorial of what is what I consider the best of summer - the Atlantic seashore.

And then we return to the beach of the people, and their activity. It does not take long before I find myself amidst those who gravitate towards having their picture taken, and I am only too happy to accommodate them: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

I saw these young men experiencing their skim-board rides, in lieu of surfing, which is never a real option at Myrtle Beach (smallish waves compared to North Carolina's Outer Banks' beaches): Above. I really thought that the transitory tidal pool, which was not here in June, was interesting, and I gravitated towards it: Below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

Just a few moments later, this marauding pack of skim-board boys found that same tidal pool, and they had fun, and I took some interesting pictures. Boys, I'm sorry for the wait. Enjoy, and have fun showing friends. Your exploits are now published: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

These "Three Amigos" were wonderful subjects, if for no other reason, due to their abject determination: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

It was a beautiful day, most interesting clouds. The young men, just teenagers, really, tried some "daredevil moves" with their designer skim-boards, often with interesting effects: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage

If I learned nothing else from these young men, I discovered in order to be interesting and do unique things, you have to take a few spills: Above and below.     photos by Stan Deatherage
