One oddity that I have never witnessed in all my days is this Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger), which lives in the Brookgreen Gardens. Also known as the Raccoon Squirrel or Monkey-faced Squirrel, this rodent is at least twice as large as any squirrel I have ever seen in the Coastal Plains of North and South Carolina: Above and below. images by Stan Deatherage.
