    Mrs. Verena Lillian Marslender Paul, age 101, a former resident of Belhaven, NC died Tuesday December 24, 2013 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.

    A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday December 27, 2013 at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church of Belhaven officiated by Rev. David Pooser. Burial will follow in Smithton Cemetery. Mrs. Paul's grandsons: Robert Williams, Timothy Williams, Layne Paul, and William Dallas Paul, III and David Paul along with her nephew: Marshall Marslender will serve as pallbearers.

    The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday December 26, 2013 at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home of Mrs. Paul's daughter Evelyn Williams located at 450 Dallas Paul Rd., Belhaven, NC.

    Mrs. Paul was born in Beaufort County on September 20, 1912 daughter of the late Charlie James Marslender and the late Mary Ellen Cayton Marslender. She was a 1932 graduate of Pantego Academy. On February 6, 1935 she married William Dallas Paul, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 6, 1980. Mrs. Paul was a very active member of Sidney Free Will Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.

    Survivors include two daughters: Evelyn P. Williams and Cindy P. Slade and her husband Danny all of Belhaven; four sons: William D. Paul, Jr. and his wife Pat of Belhaven, James E. Paul and his wife Connie of Charles City, VA, Maurice Ray Paul and his wife Pam of Wilson and D. Gregg Paul and his wife Glenda of Midlothian, VA; two sisters: Cora E. Bond and her husband Lee and Frances S. Martin and her husband Tom all of Belhaven; thirteen grandchildren: Jimmy Paul, Timothy Williams, Trey Paul, Amy Zalusky, Kelly Slade, Doug Paul, Whitney Garner, Robert Williams, Layne Paul, David Paul, Kristen Slade, Eric Paul and Kara Paul and twelve great grandchildren: Adeyla Paul, Chloe Paul, Olivia Paul, Alaina Williams, Morgan Williams, Bobby Williams, Austin Zalusky, Hannah Zalusky, Avery Paul, Judah Paul, Samuel Dallas Paul and Justice Paul. Mrs. Paul was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

    Flowers are welcome and appreciated and the family kindly asks for any memorial contributions to be made to Sidney Free Will Baptist Church, Building Fund, 4345 S.
