Betty Lou Alligood Boyd | Eastern NC Now

    Betty Lou Alligood Boyd (87) of 1112 Lizzard Slip Road, Washington, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

    The family will receive friends at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, Washington, on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home.

    A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pastors David Green and Jim Reed will be officiating.

    Pallbearers will be Bonnie Alligood, Marty Alligood, William (Buddy) Boyd, Charlie Brooks III, Billy Thurman, Jason Wallace, and Ted Wallace.

    Betty Lou was born in Beaufort County on March 28, 1939, to the late Huel Levi Alligood and Emma Pinkham Alligood. On October 5, 1957, she married Clinton Garfield Boyd and had 64 years together before his passing on September 27, 2021.

    She enjoyed taking care of her family. Always supporting her children and grandchildren, she was involved with the Methodist Youth Fellowship, Washington High School Band, and attended many recitals, games, and performances. She was a lifelong member of Asbury Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served on many committees. She loved to travel with her husband and family and enjoyed their many adventures.

    She is survived by a son, Allen Ray Boyd (Betsy) of Washington, NC; daughters, Cindy Boyd Carawan of Washington, NC, Sherry Boyd Taylor (Jimmy) of Pinetops, NC, and Kristi Boyd Woolard (Daniel) of Archer Lodge, NC.; a sister, Evy Carol Alligood Wallace of Pinetown, NC; grandchildren, Michael Kosto, Justin Carawan, Kathy Taylor (Chris), Mary Taylor (Cristian), Charli Boyd (Will), Dusty Jarman (Kimmie), Amber Brinson (Bryan), Walker Woolard, and Emily Woolard; and an honorary grandchild, Christopher Woolard (Amber). Mrs. Boyd has been blessed with many great-grandchildren. Many nephews and nieces will cherish her memory.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Rupert Ray (Bill) Alligood, Jack Clifton Alligood, Lewis Farrell (Pete) Alligood; and a special cousin, Joseph L. Pinkham, who was raised like a brother; and sisters, Doris A Ballance and Margaret A. Alligood; a daughter, Kathy Denise Boyd; a granddaughter, Erica Faith Boyd; a great-granddaughter, Lillyanna Jarman; and a son-in-law, Dexter Warren Carawan.
