    Mrs. Lillar Gray Nobles Etchison, age 83, a resident of 200 Mallison Harvey Road, Washington, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home.

    A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at her home. The family will receive friends following the service.

    Mrs. Etchison was born in Beaufort County on September 22, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Jack Clarence Nobles and Lizzelle Laughinghouse Nobles. Mrs. Etchison graduated from Chocowinity High School. She worked for twenty years as a waitress at the Holiday Inn. Mrs. Etchison loved to play music with her husband, Pete, who preceded her in death, July 13, 1993. She attended Alligood Church of God when her health permitted. In her spare time, Mrs. Etchison loved to paint, read and was known to have a "Green Thumb" when it came to gardening.

    Survivors include her children, Paula Pyle and husband, James of Raleigh, Jennifer Murdock of Washington, Steve Etchison and wife, Kathy of Washington, Teresa Jones and husband, Richard of Washington, Jay Etchison and companion, Donna of Washington, Lynette Bright and husband, Taylor of Bath; one brother, Ernest Nobles of Chocowinity; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
