He was a member of the NCAE and later in his education career achieved a Special Education Accreditation that allowed him to teach special needs children. Although he was a no nonsense teacher, he loved and dedicated himself to make each and every child feel special. Because of his commitment, he was awarded the "Best Teacher Award" for the class of 89-90 at J.C. Tayloe School.

Buster married Linda Frances Elks on July 11, 1970. They were blessed with three children; Jeffery Wade Tetterton, Aimee Nicole Tetterton LaChance, and Jennifer Tetterton May.     Buster leaves behind a sister, Judy Tetterton Harris; a brother, Bobby Lloyd Tetterton; and a sister, Louise Tetterton Boyd Barnes. In addition he is survived by many nieces and nephews and other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorials to be made to Woodard's Pond Church of Christ, 9004 US Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC 27889.
