Viola A. Woolard | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Viola Alligood Woolard, age 90, a resident of 917 East 6th Street, Washington, NC died Sunday morning June 29, 2014 at Ridgewood Manor.

    A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home in Washington officiated by Steve Hill and Travis Boyd. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Donnie Woolard, Brian Smith, Charles Windley, Ryan Whitford, Eric Smith and Rick Carter will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on June 12, 1924, daughter of the late Alfred Alligood and Laura Jane Alligood. On May 10, 1947, she married Mayhew Woolard who preceded her in death on July 10, 2004. Mrs. Woolard was a homemaker, a member of First Church of Christ of Washington and a member of the Ladies Lodge of the CBH Lodge. She enjoyed fishing, word search puzzles, eating out and spending time with her family.

    She is survived by her daughters, Lola Coward and husband Clifton Coward, Jr. and Ellen Whitley and husband Raymond Keith Whitley all of Washington, five grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and her sister, Ellen Oxendine of Wilmington.

    The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday at the home located at 917 East 6th Street, Washington.
