Edwin Arthur West, Jr. | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Edwin Arthur West, Jr., 77, of Bermuda Run, N.C., passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at his home with his family at his bedside.

    Eddie was born in Forsyth County to Edwin and Virginia West. He graduated from Washington High School in Washington, NC and Presbyterian College Class of 1958. He was employed for many years with Bahnson Service Co. In 1983, Edwin began his employment business, Protégé Temporary Service, and that business, Protégé Staffing, continues today.

    Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and son. He enjoyed his work and those who worked with him. Preceding him in death other than parents is his daughter, Sallie "Gina" Virginia West and son, Hugh Brinkley West. Surviving is his wife Carol Brinkley West; son, Edwin A. West III (Gina); four grandchildren, Brian Dalton West, Sallie Virginia West, Nolan Hugh West, and Anna Chapel West; and great-grandson, Cameron Allen Messick. He was a devoted member and servant to his church home and all of his friends and congregation of Highland Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for fifty six years.

    A graveside service for family and close friends will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 1 pm at Forsyth Memorial Park, followed by a service at Highland Presbyterian Church at 2:30 pm. A reception will follow the service in the Activity Building. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Presbyterian Church, 2380 Cloverdale Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Hospice and Pallative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
