He attended The Cincinnati Bible Seminary, William and Mary College, and East Carolina College. Buddy was the owner/operator of several business, most notably Bennie's Grill in Wake Forest. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Brown, and a great-grandson, Christian Sullivan.

Buddy is survived by his daughters Dianne Browning (Jerry) of Cedar Point, Karen Daniels (George) of Washington, NC, and Pam Oliver (Mark) of Zebulon; a son, Michael Harris (Gena) of Summerville, SC; sisters Betty Jo Osborne and Edna Sukeforth; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral service honoring his life will be held 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2014 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Swansboro Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1657, Swansboro, NC or to Cartaret Home Health and Hospice of Cartaret County, P.O. Drawer 1619, Morehead City, NC 28557.
