The committee is also responsible with monitoring the North Carolina Highway Trust Fund, the Highway Fund, the General Fund, or any other fund when expenditures are related to transportation.

"Sen. Cook understands the vital role North Carolina's infrastructure plays in paving the way toward a more prosperous future," Berger said. "His leadership and perspective will be invaluable as this committee works to ensure our state has a 21st century transportation system that meets the needs of our citizens."

Coastal citizens in Senator Cook's district should be grateful for his further connection with the powerful Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee. For samples of the work done by this Committee during the 2013-2014 legislative biennium, see http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/DocumentSites/browseDocSite.asp?nID=33&sFolderName=\2013-14_Biennium\Required_Reports.

Governor McCrory has recently announced an ambitious plan for transportation projects across NC, including east of I-95. We need to have coastal voices heard during this process!
