Hagan Campaign Admits She Skipped Classified ISIS Briefing To Get Cocktails At NYC Fundraiser | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

Wilmington, N.C. - In a shocking development, Kay Hagan's campaign admitted to the Associated Press that Sen. Hagan skipped a classified national security briefing on February 27, 2014 to attend a cocktail fundraising reception in New York City.

  • "Hagan said in a post-debate news conference Tuesday that she missed an Armed Services hearing when it was postponed after some Senate votes were scheduled. Hagan's campaign confirmed Wednesday the hearing occurred Feb. 27. The Armed Services Committee held a closed hearing that afternoon on "current and future worldwide threats" to national security. Hagan's campaign scheduled a cocktail reception at a New York apartment that evening." [Associated Press, 10/9/14]

The classified briefing on current and future threats to national security was a continuation of an open hearing where senators were publicly briefed on the dangers posed by the Islamic State on February 11, 2014.

"Instead of actually doing her job and attending a classified briefing on threats to our national security including the Islamic State, Kay Hagan was too busy flying to New York City to grab cocktails at a campaign fundraiser," said Tillis for U.S. Senate communications director Daniel Keylin. "Failing to take her most important responsibility seriously, Sen. Kay Hagan represents everything that's wrong with Washington, and it's time for her to explain why she prioritizes her own re-election campaign ahead of our national security."

O-O-O-O-O-O Let's stone her for missing a meeting when many more are scheduled on the same subject!

I'm having a hard time with the hate speak campaign of Tillis. Does anyone note his part in the Fracking of NC and the budget fiascoes---starting with the lack of taxing on the rich to balance the budget with us working taxpayers????

If such conservatives have "conserved anything" but hate, I don't see it. Hagan has served only 1 term / had made headway with seniority / has tried to get something progressive done in a "NO" environment of Republicans already on Capital Hill.

If Tillis should get lucky and go to Capital Hill, you can guarantee the first move will be to try and Impeach a President already on his last less than 2 years!

Sorry, I remain unconvinced the Mr. Tillis is the right person to represent NC in Washington.
