Carol Jones Modlin | Eastern NC Now

    Carol Coltrain Jones Modlin, age 70, a resident of Carrow Rd., Chocowinity, NC passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014.

    Carol was born in Williamston, NC on December 6, 1943 daughter of the late Mildred Whitehurst Coltrain. She was a 1962 graduate of Williamston High School. Carol was married to Gene Kirkeby Jones who preceded her in death in 1994 and later married Ellis Modlin who also preceded her in death. She was an office worker for Belk for 23 years. Carol loved attending shows at Tar Heel Variety Theater, going to the ocean, reading and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

    Carol is survived by her daughters , Regena J. Elks and husband Tim and Celia J. Arbogast and husband Tim; her sister, Jo Ann Coltrain of Elizabeth City; her grandchildren, Ashley Elks, Matthew Elks, Hayden Arbogast and Dillon Arbogast; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

    In addition to her parents and husbands, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Sherwood R. Coltrain.

    A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, November 23, 2014, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Greg Ramsey. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:45 pm, Sunday, November 23 at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC and other times at the home.
