Western Residence Holiday Open House With Governor And First Lady This Weekend | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

Asheville, N.C. - North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory and First Lady Ann McCrory will be hosting a Holiday Open House at the Governor's Western Residence this weekend. The open house will be held on both Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Media wishing to attend and speak with Governor McCrory are encouraged to visit the residence between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

"North Carolina is the most beautiful state in the country, and that beauty is on full display in the mountains of Asheville and throughout western North Carolina at this time of year," said First Lady Ann McCrory. "We are excited to celebrate the holidays with visitors as they take in the scenic views and the unparalleled craftsmanship of North Carolina artists."

The 6,000 square foot home and open pavilion situated atop 18 acres of wooded grounds serves as a retreat for North Carolina governors and their families, and houses government officials visiting the Asheville area on state business. It is also a magnificent meeting venue for various, local civic and cultural groups. The home was donated to the state in 1964.

"Ann and I can't wait to open up the Western Residence for this special occasion," Governor McCrory said. "The house is in a beautiful setting which will only be enhanced by the regional arts and crafts and Christmas decorations spread throughout it."
