Born: July 01, 1930, Died: December 25, 2014

    Mrs. Doris Marie Satterthwaite Johnston, age 84, a resident of 898 Pungo Village, Belhaven, NC died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Yeatesville Cemetery officiated by Craig Hagen. Henry Boyd, Bryan Hollowell, Josh Keel, Ted Van Essendelft, Martin Webb and Bud Adams will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Johnston was born in Beaufort County on July 1, 1930, to the late Eustace Thomas Satterthwaite and Nettie Gertrude Nixon Satterthwaite. Mrs. Johnston attended John A Wilkinson High School. On March 6, 1949, she married Eugene P. Johnston, who preceded her in death on July 23, 1993. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and dedicated wife; in 1960 she began working in the retail grocery business serving part of that time as a manager. Mrs. Johnston was a member of the First Christian Church of Belhaven.

    Mrs. Johnston is survived by her three children, Linda J. Beddard and husband David of Washington, NC, Marie J. Adams and husband Mike of Bath, NC, and a son R. Andrew "Andy" Johnston and wife Kay of Dallas, Texas, three grandchildren, Jared M. Adams of Bath, NC, Erica L. Johnston of New Bern, NC and Alex Adams of Bath, NC, two brothers, Jim Satterthwaite and wife Peggy of Pantego, NC and Bruce Satterthwaite and wife Grace of Pinetops, NC, and a sister, Helen Satterthwaite of Pantego, NC.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Johnston is preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Satterthwaite, Guy Satterthwaite, Earl Satterthwaite and Richard Satterthwaite.

    The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home of her daughter, Marie J. Adams, 118 Waterford Drive, Bath NC, 27808.

    Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
