    Ms. Karla Jo Ford, age 54, formerly of Washington and currently of Kitty Hawk, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

    A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Washington, conducted by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

    Karla was born in Richland County, Ohio on May 27, 1960. She was the daughter of Ardath Joan Jackson Ford and the late Garvin Gene Ford. Karla was a 1978 graduate of Washington High School. She received an Associate Degree from Beaufort County Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Elizabeth City State University. Karla was a licensed insurance agent as well as Front Desk Agent and Night Auditor at the Outer Banks Inn and the Colonial Inn. In her spare time, she loved to read, the beach, travelling and spending time with her cats.

    Karla is survived by her daughter, Alexis B. Ford of the home; Alexis' father, Thomas Watler of Kill Devil Hills; long-time friend, William Grace of Kitty Hawk; mother, Ardath Joan Ford of Washington; sister, Linda Mayer of Hilliard, Ohio; brother, John Ford and wife, Kathy of Washington; sister, Joannie Kellum and husband, DeWayne Kellum of Chocowinity and several nieces and nephews.

    Karla was preceded in death by her father, Garvin Gene Ford.

    The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church and other times at the home of her mother, Ardath Joan Ford, 171 Clifton Meadows Drive, Washington.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Karla Jo Ford Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, N.C. 27889.
