WASHINGTON, D.C.     Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) met with Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, in Tillis' Washington, D.C. office to discuss several issues, including stopping Iran's nuclear ambitions and combatting terrorist groups in the Middle East.

Following the meeting, Senator Tillis issued the following statement:

"I thank Ambassador Dermer for meeting with me to discuss ways for our nations to work together to promote peace and stability in the Middle East. Israel needs America's continued support and friendship now more than ever. In a region engulfed by terrorism, oppression, and war, Israel stands on the frontline in defense of hope and freedom.

"It is disappointing to see the Obama Administration continually attempt to undermine Prime Minister Netanyahu and dismiss Israel's well-founded concerns over the proposed framework with Iran. While President Obama has not prioritized America's special friendship with Israel, there is broad bipartisan consensus in Congress to strengthen our unbreakable bond with Israel and prevent a bad deal with the Iranian regime."

I am amazed at the divisions being thrust into an already divided situation in the Middle East. It seems no Senator is above pontificating when our tradition has ALWAYS BEEN that the Executive Branch negotiate treaties and then Congress approves them.
