Fraud in Pantego and Washington Areas | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release

    On April 25, 2014 at approximately 1215 hours, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a Fraud at the Moody Mart convenience store on River Road in Washington. Deputies learned two suspects entered the store and cashed two counterfeit paychecks from Precision Pallet, LLC in Pantego.

    Investigators conducted interviews and gathered evidence. As a result of information and evidence gathered during the investigation, Investigator Jonathan Fowler applied for and obtained warrants charging Gerardo Mendoza Ramirez, age 20, of 104 Sandy Lane, Washington and Shaquel O'Brian Collins, age 21, of 21 Camel Drive, Washington with one (1) count of Felony Uttering a Forged Instrument, one (1) count of Felony Conspiracy to Obtain Property by False Pretense, one (1) count of Felony Identity Theft, and one (1) count of Felony Forgery of an Instrument.

    On March 24, 2015, Mr. Ramirez turned himself into the Magistrate's Office and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 secure bond.

    As a result of information received by Beaufort County Crime Stoppers, Mr. Shaquel O'Brian Collins was arrested on April 25, 2015 by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division. Collins was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on a $10,000 secure bond set by Magistrate Jasper Mills.

On October 9, 2023, Ashun Anthony, age 24 of Washington, NC was indicted by a Beaufort County Grand Jury for the crime of Death by Distribution in connection with the April 29, 2022 death of 31 year old Quintin Freeman

On July 13, 2023, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office concluded a two-month long drug investigation on Bobby Lee Moore Jr. Moore is 43 years of age and a lifelong resident of Aurora, NC.
On May 12, 2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Kyle Willis Bailey, 47 years of age, of Washington
On 04/13/2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Officers with the Washington Police Department and Probation Officers conducted a search of Germaine Williams residence located at 829 Boston Avenue in Washington.
On 03/11/2023, Patrol Deputies assigned to the Aurora area served arrest warrants on Anthony Bragg, 32 years of age, of 1824 Bay City Road in Aurora.
On 02/7/2023, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Shaquel Collins, 29 years of age, of 113 Days Inn in Washington.
