    Mrs. Dorothy Louise Parvin Balzer, age 88, a resident of Washingtion, N.C. died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    Memorial services will be held 6:oo PM Friday, May 8, 2015 at Ware's Chapel United Methodist Church, Washington conducted by Rev. Joan Fisher. The family will serve refreshments from 4:00 PM until the memorial hour.

    Mrs. Balzer was born in Beaufort County on November 20, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Robert Blount Parvin and Lucy Jackson Parvin. She was a homemaker and gardener. Mrs. Balzer was very active in her church and was a member of the Washington Garden Club. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting, and in her younger years was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Balzer loved to visit the beach as much as she could.

    On July 23, 1946 she married the late Richard L. Balzer. Born of this 67 year marriage were daughters, Katherine B. Giacchello and husband Teresio of Italy, Anna B. Edwards and husband James of Washington.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Balzer was preceded in death by her daughter Janet B. Respess.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday May 3, 2015 at her home.
