How to make an error free Post on BCN | Eastern North Carolina Now

Sometimes it just takes a woman’s touch.

Sometimes it just takes a woman's touch.

Some of us are afflicted with the ability to carry multiple half-thoughts in our mind at the same time. Most people will wait until they have clarified their thoughts before committing them to pen and ink or keyboard as the case may be.

Fortunately, I do not suffer from that problem. I can carry half-baked thoughts in my mind for several years at a time and never come to a resolution.

Anyone who has read my post can attest to that.

However, I have found out that posting on BCN with numerous spelling and grammatical errors drives the OCD among us crazy. I am one of those. I find that I can catch an error of that sort almost immediately after the post is published.

Forget the idea or the clarity of thought, but it must be correct. I might point out that MS Word does a credible job in catching errors in spelling and grammar.

Those errors that it does not catch require a more detailed analysis. Since I develop most of my post and personal writings in MS Word, I just started using the text to speech function to have my drafts read back to me. It seems it would be easier to notice a mistake if it is reviewed as if it were a conversation.

My version of Word uses a woman's voice for the playback. I would like to think that most men are accustomed to being corrected by a woman's voice. I know that I am.

After I finish my tome on whatever subject, all that is left is to have "Mildred" read it back to me. That Bi#@h is crazy. If you think most of my post are off base, you should hear some of the ones that she comes up with, which I of course don't choose to publish.

YouTube has some other Word editing features I did not know about until looking for Text to Speech. More robot features to displace human proof readers.
