    Mr. John Clyde Grooms, Sr., age 65, a resident of 106 Harvette Rd., Washington, died Monday June 1, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at 106 Harvette Rd., Washington on Thursday June 4, 2015.

    Mr. John was born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 15, 1949 to the late John Harold Grooms, Sr. and Hattie Mae Moore. He attended St. Andrews High School in Charleston, SC. On February 23, 1978 he married Alvilda May Moore.

    In addition to his wife, Alvilda M. Grooms, he is survived by six children, John C. Grooms, Jr., Carol G. Lopez, Calvin Allen Grooms and wife Bonnie, Larry James Alexander, Jr., Darlene Woolard, all of Washington, Faye Marie Quidley and husband Bobby of Belhaven, eleven grandchildren, Shannon Alligood and husband Keith, Joey Quidley and wife Brittany, Samantha Grooms, Christopher Merrill, Breanne Nixon, Nathan Grooms, Jennifer Quidley, Kaylee Woolard, Logan Grooms, six great grandchildren, Brandon Alligood, Brandy Alligood, Nicholas Alligood, Lorelai Alligood, Cayden McKindley Quidley, Hunter Glenn Quidley, and one brother Clenon H. Grooms, Jr of Washington.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
