James Carr Davis | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. James Carr Davis, who was born on September 28, 1937, departed this life on June 6, 2015 at the Beaufort Vidant Hospital.

    Mr. Davis was the son of the late Edward Larry and Pearl Virginia O'Neal Davis. He was born in Hyde County, North Carolina. He attended the public schools of Hyde County and was a life-long member of the Mount Pilgrim Church of Christ/Disciples of Christ Church in Scranton, NC. He was the owner of Davis and Sons Landscaping Service. He was also an installer of septic tanks and a farmer. Fishing was his relaxing past-time.

    He was married to Mogolia Campbell Davis who preceded him in death. He later married June Theresa Dickson Davis, who survives. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: John Davis, Fred Davis and Willie Davis.

    Surviving with his wife are five children: daughters, Malinda Davis Griffin, Julia Dubose, Ancilla Gittens; two sons, Charles Davis and Anthony Davis; five sisters, Della D. Doughlin, Ella Babbitt, Mary Coates, Lovie Miller and Pearline Dupree; four brothers, Frank Davis, James Leonard Davis, Victor T. Davis and Herbert Davis; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

    A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Disciples of Christ in Scranton, NC with Bishop Charles Butler officiating. A viewing will be held from 1:00 until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Scranton, NC. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at Mt. Pilgrim Disciples of Christ. The family will receive friends other times at the home at 69 New Road, Scranton, NC.
