Press Release:

Last year, after presenting a popular musical on the life of Fanny Crosby, writer of over 9000 hymns and poems, the Rocky Hock Playhouse decided to produce a sequel to the production for their current season. The new show was written because so many people said, "We just don't hear the hymns any more like we used to." Nearly every performance was sold out last year so the Playhouse "took the hint" and decided to include a sequel in this year's season. Because of the sheer volume of material written about Miss Crosby's life, and the number of songs she wrote, the Playhouse knew there would never be a shortage of material! Crosby lived a long, interesting, and very productive life and the new musical promises to be even better than last year's.

To God Be the Glory (the Fanny Crosby Story Continues) opens in Edenton on August 11 and runs through September 19. The dinner theatre show includes songs such as "All the Way My Savior Leads Me," "Tell Me the Story of Jesus," "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior," "To God Be the Glory," and a dozen more of Miss Crosby's most famous and moving hymns.

Fanny Crosby, never resentful of her blindness, was an early advocate for the blind. She worked in missions, taught, was married, loved her friends and family, and loved to write. In this year's musical, Fanny (played by Gloria Emmerich) is joined on stage by her niece, Natty Tait (Lorelle Phillips), friends and co-writers, Ira Sankey, Jr. (Nathan Schierer), William Doane (Jeffrey Emmerich), Mrs. Doane (Mariah Schierer), and Mrs. Sankey (Rachel Carter). The musical captures the highlights of Fanny Crosby's life, writings, and music.

Tickets are $22.95 for children (6 - 12 years old), $28.95 for seniors, and $29.95 for adults. Ticket prices include both the show and an all-you-care-to-eat buffet. Call the box office at (252) 482-4621 for group rates and further formation.
