    GREENVILLE-Vidant Health is committed to enhancing the quality of life for the people and communities it serves, touches, and supports. The health system has recently been recognized and received awards from numerous organizations for demonstrating excellence in education, quality, safety, respiratory care, and patient experience.

HealthStream Patricia E. Lane Award

    Donna Moses, administrator for The Center for Learning and Performance at Vidant Medical Center, was awarded the Patricia E. Lane Award by the HealthStream Awards of Excellence. Moses was recognized for her work in leading Vidant Medical Center's efforts to transform the nursing education model and for her leadership with nursing education.

Get With The Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award

    Vidant Medical Center received the American College of Cardiology's ACTION Registry-Get With The Guidelines Platinum Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes Vidant Medical Center's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that it has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

Infant Safe Sleep Hospital Model of Excellence

    The James and Connie Maynard Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center has been recognized as an Infant Safe Sleep Hospital Model of Excellence by the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation. Healthy Start Foundation is a statewide nonprofit whose mission is to eliminate preventable infant death and illness in North Carolina. The purpose of the award is to recognize hospitals that are proven leaders in infant safe sleep policy, practice and education. Maynard Children's met four areas of excellence to qualify for this award: policy, staff training and education, patient education and modeling, and community outreach. It was one of only 13 hospitals in the state to receive this award.

American Association for Respiratory Care

    Respiratory Care services at Vidant Medical center has been selected by the American Association for Respiratory Care to present a case review at the national conference in Tampa, Florida. The Presentation will address how respiratory care professionals managed a complex trauma patient who was placed on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This is the only international respiratory care conference and more than 6,000 people from around the world attend.

HealthStream Excellence through Insight Award

    Vidant SurgiCenter has been recognized with an Excellence through Insight Award for "Overall Patient Experience in Outpatient-Same Day Surgery Unit" by HealthStream, Inc. Vidant SurgiCenter received this honor for its commitment to excellence in patient care. To qualify for the award, a health care facility must have been a patient experience-tracking client of HealthStream in 2014, scored in the 75th percentile or higher, and surveyed a minimum of 100 patients. This is the fourth time in six years Vidant SurgiCenter has received this award. The honor puts the facility at the top of its class for patient experience and exemplifies its dedication to providing the highest standards for all patients.

National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN)

    Dr. Shakira Henderson, director of nursing and health sciences research for nursing administration at Vidant Medical Center, has been selected to receive the 2015 NANN Navigator Award. The award acknowledges clinicians for superior mentoring skills and contributions made to neonatal nursing. Dr. Henderson was nominated and ultimately chosen for the award for her outstanding teaching and motivational skills. Recipients for the navigator award are chosen for being clinically and technically skilled in their profession, and their ability to share their experiences and viewpoints willingly.
