On July 1, 32-year-old Kate Steinle and her father were taking a stroll along San Francisco's Pier 24 (the Embarcadero). They were walking arm-in-arm commenting about the wonderful day they were spending together when a suddenly, a shot rang out. Kate immediately fell and looked up at her father, pleading: "Help me, Dad." Those were the last words he would ever hear from his litle girl.

The killer, Francisco Sanchez, an undocumented alien, was a repeat menace to society; a repeat violent criminal. He was convicted of 7 felonies and had already been deported 5 times. He found his way back into the country, and under the protection of San Francisco. Back in March, he was released from prison and allowed to roam the streets freely. An innocent law-abiding American citizen was needlessly gunned down because of loop-holes in our immigration policy that allow for pockets of sanctuary for monsters like Sanchez. Because of the Sanctuary City policy established by San Francisco, Kate Steinle and her father were denied the safety and security of walking on the streets in the country that they pledge allegiance to and pay taxes to. A city operating under that vile policy will ignore its obligations under the federal immigration policy if it will likely result in an illegal immigration being deported.

It should be emphasized that the roots of our essential liberties - those embraced in the first 8 amendments (the 9th and 10th merely reaffirm the reserve of inalienable rights of the People and reserved powers of the state, respectively) - come from a violent history that played out in England for approximately 600-700 years. The crux of that history, memorialized in our amendments, is that laws must NOT be arbitrary. The Rule of Law is what protects the rights of the People from the designs of government.

(Published on July 9, 2015) Megyn Kelly was absolutely incensed at the non response from the White House on their past defense of sanctuary cities in light Kate Steinle's murder in San Francisco.

Contrast the administration's fierce, laser-sharp attention to instances of violence involving blacks, to instances of individuals wanting to display the Confederate flag, and to instances whereby county clerks refuse to follow the gay marriage ruling out of religious conscience, versus the outright lawlessness that is ensuing over immigration.
