Obituary: Thomas Gene “Tommy” Ange | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Mr. Thomas Gene “Tommy” Ange, age 63, a resident of 51 Fort Canal Drive, Chocowinity, died Monday, July 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with ALS.

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at the Chocowinity United Methodist Church, N.C. Highway 33 West, Chocowinity, conducted by the Rev. George Jones. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington. Mr. Ange’s brothers will serve as pallbearers: Carlie Ange, Joe Ange, Larry Ange, Billy Ange, Elmer Ange and Randy Ange. Scott Tyndall, Larry Moore, Danny Moore, Corey Rush and Keegan Rush will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Ange was born in Jamesville, N.C., on May 4, 1948. He was the son of Harriett Harrell Ange and the late Carlie E. Ange. Mr. Ange worked as a maintenance mechanic for National Spinnng for 34 years. Later, he worked at Hackney for five years.

    Mr. Ange was a member of the Chocowinity United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men and the Adult Sunday School Class. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. On Dec. 20, 1970, Mr. Ange married the former Sandra Clark, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his children, Christy D. Ange of the home, Wendie Ange Paramore and her husband, Lee of Manteo, Sarah A. Toppen and her husband, Caleb of Clarksville, Tenn., Thomas C. Ange of the home; four grandchildren, Carlee M. Paramore, Rebekah A. Paramore, Jordan A. Tyndall, Erica R. Morris; his mother, Harriett Harrell Ange of Washington; and six brothers, Carlie Ange and his wife, Norma of Elizabeth City, Joe Ange and his wife, Ann of Washington, Larry Ange of Simpson, Billy Ange and his wife, Freddie, Elmer Ange and his wife, Betty Jean, Randy Ange and his wife, Elizabeth – all of Chocowinity.

    In addition to his father, Mr. Ange was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Isaac Paramore and a sister, Betty Carol Ange Everett.

    The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his home, 51 Fort Canal Drive, Chocowinity.
