Josephine S. Woolard | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Josephine Elizabeth Silverthorne Woolard, age 87, a resident of Greenville, NC and a former resident of Washington, NC died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

    A memorial service will be held at a later date.

    Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on January 6, 1928 daughter of the late Sam McCarvey Silverthorne and Virginia Bell Silverthorne. She graduated from Pineland High School in Salemburg, NC and attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC for one year. She worked as a sales clerk at William Taylor Company and Harper's. Mrs. Woolard was a member of the First Christian Church of Washington.

    Mrs. Woolard is survived by her daughter, Debbie E. Hinton and husband, Henry Williams Hinton, Jr. of Greenville, NC, two grandchildren, Hank Hinton and wife, Meredith of Greenville, NC and Courtney Hinton of Charleston, SC, and two great grandchildren, Holt and Hunter Hinton of Greenville, NC.

    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Silverthorne.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church Building Fund, 401 East Second Street, Washington, NC 27889.
