Several dozen physicians from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University have been chosen by their peers for inclusion in the 2015 "Best Doctors in America" list.

ECU physicians named to annual Best Doctors list


 Several dozen physicians from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University have been chosen by their peers for inclusion in the 2015 "Best Doctors in America" list.

 The annual list is compiled by Best Doctors Inc., a Boston-based group that surveys more than 45,000 physicians across the United States who previously have been included in the listing, and asks who they would choose to treat themselves or their families.

 Approximately 5 percent of the physicians who practice in the United States make the annual list. A partial list of the state's "Best Doctors" appears in the December issue of Business North Carolina magazine.

 The ECU physicians on this year's list are Dr. L. Lorraine Basnight, pediatrics; Dr. Paul Bolin Jr., nephrology; Dr. Susan B. Boutilier, pediatric neurology; Dr. Mark Bowling, pulmonary and critical care medicine; Dr. William A. Burke, dermatology; Dr. Elaine Cabinum-Foeller, pediatric advocacy; Dr. Cynthia Christiano, nephrology; Dr. Paul P. Cook, infectious diseases; Dr. John M. Diamond, child and adolescent psychiatry; Dr. Clinton E. Faulk, physical medicine and rehabilitation; Dr. Jonathon Firnhaber, family medicine; Dr. Robert C. Frere, neurology; Dr. John W. Gibbs III, neurology; Dr. David Hannon, pediatric cardiology; Dr. Karin Marie Hillenbrand, pediatrics; Dr. Thomas G. Irons, pediatrics; Dr. Nadyah J. John, child and adolescent psychiatry; Dr. Yash P. Kataria, pulmonary medicine; Dr. Greg W. Knapp, family medicine; Dr. Gary I. Levine, family medicine; and Dr. Scott S. MacGilvray, neonatology.
