    Mrs. Margaret Estelle Wells Cox, age 86, a resident of 5202 River Road, Washington, NC died Monday January 18, 2016 at her home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 21, 2016 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Tony Krantz. Pallbearers will be Bud Alligood, David Hand, Geoffrey Furbee, Timothy Boseman, Caleb Furbee and Freddie Moore.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday January 20, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

    Mrs. Cox was born in Beaufort County on June 4, 1929 daughter of the late Robert Leslie Wells and the late Minnie Estelle Simpkins Wells. She attended Aurora High School and married William Fred Cox who preceded her in death. Along with being a homemaker she worked at Sampson's Manufacturing of Washington until her retirement. Mrs. Cox was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

    Survivors include a daughter: Barbara L. Alligood of Chocowinity; a dear friend who was closer than a sister: Lela Tillery; all of Mrs. Tillery's children and family; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. Mrs. Cox was predeceased by a brother: Robert Leslie Wells, Jr.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of one's choice.
