Billy R. Jefferson | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Billy Ray Jefferson, age 69, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Sunday January 24, 2016 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.

    A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 26, 2016 at West Belhaven Church of Christ officiated by James Scheffler.

    Mr. Jefferson was Born in Beaufort County on November 7, 1946 son of the late William Millard "Boggin" Jefferson and the late Pattie Lee Ormond Jefferson. He was a graduate of Bath High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 23, 1978 he married the former Mary Ann Creech who survives. Mr. Jefferson was a retired Machinist with Weyerhaeuser of Plymouth and attended West Belhaven Church of Christ. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law and uncle who never met a stranger.

    Surviving along with his wife Mary of the home is a son: Tracy De Shane Jefferson of New Richmond, Wisconsin; two step-sons: James Allen Jamison and his wife Susan of Washington and Jerome Leslie Jamison of Washington; a step-daughter: Lee Ann Greene and her husband David of Belhaven a sister: Carolyn Lee Swanner of Washington; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Jefferson was predeceased by a step-daughter: Ruth Jamison and a brother: M. Earl Jefferson, Sr.

    The family received friends Monday January 25, 2016 at the home of Mr. Jefferson's sister-in-law: Ruth Grant located at 280 Seed Tick Road, Pinetown, NC.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the charity of one's choice.
