Vidant Home Health and Hospice named a 2016 Hospice Honors Elite Award recipient | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

GREENVILLE, NC     Vidant Home Health and Hospice has been named a 2016 Hospice Honors Elite Award recipient by Deyta Analytics, a division of HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of web-based home health and hospice software, billing, coding and advanced analytics. The Hospice Honors program recognizes hospice organizations for outstanding scores for high level quality as measured by the caregiver's point of view.

The criteria for being eligible for this award was based on the Hospice CAHPS survey results during the evaluation period of April to September 2015. The agency must have partnered with Deyta Analytics and submitted their patient surveys during the evaluation period. Award recipients were identified by evaluating hospices' performance on a set off 24 quality indicator measures.

There were 1,500 hospice organizations that were eligible and 238 received Hospice Honors awards. 57 agencies received the Elite recognition for Hospice Honors. Eighteen agencies were from the state of North Carolina; six of those agencies received the Elite Honors status. Vidant Home Health and Hospice was the only North Carolina hospice agency east of the I-95 corridor to receive this award.

"The staff members and volunteers at Vidant Home Health and Hospice demonstrate true compassion and care when they touch the lives of patients and their families. I believe that people can tell the difference when every encounter is focused on doing the best for patients and their loved ones," said Dr. Tae Joon Lee, Vidant Home Health and Hospice's Medical Director. "This recognition confirms what we see day in and day out from the staff members who strive to make a positive impact during some of the most difficult times. I am truly blessed to be a part of this very special team."

Vidant's Greenville, Ahoskie and inpatient hospice teams served 1,476 hospice patients during 2015 and provided more than 3,400 volunteer direct care hours with the patients and their families.

"I am thrilled that our team received the Hospice Honors Elite award by Deyta. This honor is a true reflection of our interdisciplinary team's commitment to providing excellent care to patients and families we serve," said Debra Thompson, vice president, care transformation, Vidant Health. "The team consists of volunteers, nurses, chaplains, social workers, leadership staff, and providers who offer compassionate patient-family centered care and share their talents generously."

"Hospice Honors is a landmark compilation of hospices that provide the best patient and caregiver experiences," said Bobby Robertson, president and CEO of HEALTHCAREfirst. "I am extremely proud of Vidant Home Health and Hospice for achieving this highest of honors and I congratulate them on their success."
