Sybil J. Barber | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Mrs. Sybil Marie Jordan Barber, age 78, a resident of 2150 Barber Rd., Jamesville, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at her home.

    Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Dr. Stewart LaNeave. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Travis Barber, Marcus Barber, Justin Barber, Brian Cooke, Jeffrey Cooke, Mark Barber, Matthew Styons and Mathin Ange will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Barber was born in Beaufort County on April 23, 1938 to the late Leslie William Jordan and Edith Cox Jordan. On September 15, 1956 she married Elbert Earl Barber who survives. She was a 1956 graduate of Bath High School and retired as a bookkeeper with Southwest Edgecombe High School after many years of service. She was a member of Jamesville Christian Church.

    Survivors include her husband, Earl Barber of the home, three sons, Bert Barber and wife Denise of North Augusta, SC, Rex Barber and wife DeAnne of Zebulon, Chris Barber of Raleigh, two sisters Mary LaBarbera and husband Tom of Grimesland, Pauline Holt and husband Lewis of Washington, one brother, Leslie Jordan, Jr. and wife Mary of Pinetown, seven grandchildren, Crystal Barber, Travis Barber, Marcus Barber, Erin Barber, Whitney Barber, Brandi Barry, Justin Barber and two great grandchildren, Peyton Miller and Carolina Barber. She was preceded in death by one brother, John William Jordan.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
