Freddy "Fred" Brooks, Sr. | Eastern NC Now

    Mr. Freddy Alvin "Fred" Brooks, Sr., age 61, a resident of Grimesland, NC died Saturday July 9, 2016 at his home.

    A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill officiated by Pastor Henry Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Taylor, Erick Jennings, Jeff Everett, Michael Brooks and Ruben Braddy.

    The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday July 12, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Mr. Fred was born in Chesapeake, VA on August 20, 1954 son of the late Ervin P. Brooks and the late Ollie Mae Guthrie Brooks. On February 7, 2011 he married the former Betty E. Kirk who survives. Mr. Fred worked with the Beaufort County Water Department as a meter reader. He was a member of Belvoir Free Will Baptist Church.

    Surviving along with his wife Betty of the home is a step-daughter: Jennifer L. Taylor and husband Shane of Bath; a brother: Michael Brooks of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters: Dot Price of Virginia Beach, VA and Betty Brooks of Belhaven; a sister-in-law: Linda Dale Jacobs of Waycross, GA and two grandchildren: Jonah Taylor and Shana Taylor both of Bath. Mr. Fred was predeceased along with his parents by a son: Freddy A. Brooks, Jr. on January 6, 2012.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to the Freddy Brooks Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1465, Washington, NC 27889.
